Veggie Measuring

For someone who's tried to switch to this way of eating in the past, I probably ask a lot of unnecessary questions.  I apologize for that, and blame it on a professor from my distant past who taught us that the only stupid question was the one that wasn't asked.  Since it was an education class, it made total sense and I still apply the logic, whether I should or not.

Anyway, I know this WOE calls for 4.5 cups of vegetables each day as a base; more is certainly allowed and acceptable.

What I'm wondering is if there are any standards of measurement.  For instance, is there anything that spells out what a quantity of a given veggie equates to in cup measurements?

As a lot of times I eat veggies themselves -- grape tomatoes, celery sticks, etc -- how do I know how the number I eat translates into cup measurements?  Even the grape tomato boxes don't list serving size info.

Any assistance/guidance will be greatly appreciated.  I've been doing fairly well most days eating the right types of foods..  Now I want to make sure that my quantities are good, too.  If I can get some "conversion" info as it were, I'd have a better feel for areas that need tweaking, instead of doing the guessing that I'm currently doing.

I've never really bothered measuring. Just put as much veggies as you can fit onto your plate/bowl/wrap/sandwich and you're on the right track.

Nancy, Have you seen this? Although it doesn't technically explain how to measure a veggie serving, I think if you follow the veggie recommendations at every meal, you've hit the 4 1/2 cups. Plus, I think its easier to imagine what the smaller quantities (ie: 1/2 cup veggies for breakfast or 2 cups lunch) look like rather than try to figure out

There is no way to accurately measure veggies.
