Good Morning, Everyone:
I started SBD this week. I am on Phase I, day 5. Its been fairly easy. I was nervous since the first two weeks are so restrictive. But it hasn't been too difficult. My sister in law and her husband have been doing the diet for 6 months. She has lost 40 pounds and he has lost 30 pounds. It took me a year to lose 40 pounds on WW so decided to give this a try as its probably the only diet I haven't ever tried.
I do have a question about yogurt. The book says I can have nonfat or fat free plain yogurt on Phase I. But I haven't been able to find any yogurt that isn't full of sugar. They all have 8-17 grams of sugar in it. Anybody know about a brand of yogurt I can eat during Phase I?
Another question WW Fruitie candies are sugar free but do have maltitol syrup in them. I thought I read something about this ingredient in the SBD book but can't find it again. Is this an ingredient I am suppose to stay away from?
I haven't started exercising yet, but plan to go to the gym today. The one thing I am finding hard to get used to is never really knowing how many calories or points I am eating. I have done WW on and off for years. Its a little disconcerting not know how many calories or points I am eating each day. I wonder if I am eating too much, not enough or just the right amount. I don't believe I am eating too much but I don't want to eat too little and be slowing my metabolism down.
I look forward to being able to talk to other people doing the diet, especially you veterans. Any input or tips you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to getting to know you all.
Erin

Hi Erin,
Welcome!
All yogurt has naturally occuring sugars (lactose).
Thanks, Cathy:
I appreciate your response. That makes
Just a reminder to keep in mind the key components to South Beach:
* 4.5 Cups of veggies (minimum) EVERY SINGLE DAY
* 0.5 cups of the veggies should be a legume
* 2 servings of dairy (and on South Beach that's only milk, soy milk, and yogurt)
* Keep oil/fat at the limits (see meal planning guide)
* Limit nuts to one serving per day (see

Thanks Jennifer and Maggie:
I am following the guidelines and lists for Phase I so I am okay there. Thanks for the long lists of tips. I cut and pasted it into a word document so I can refer to it often.
Let me see if I can help you navigate the board.
