I need some accountability...

UGH I've been on South Beach (and this board) off and on since 2005. Since my baby was born I'm having a difficult time limiting my snacks. I was so use to snacking whenever I wanted to that I've found I eat now when I'm not hungry :-(  bad habit I know. How do I flip this switch back? I did phase 1 for 2 weeks (lost 4lbs and yes I've gained every one of those back in phase 2). I just can't trust myself. I buy only SBD friendly foods but I snack myself to death ~ string cheese and nuts. UGH. I'm going to start posting a journal just so I can see what I'm eating and feel like I have someone to be accountable to. I'm at 119lbs and 110 is perfect for me. I'm 5'4" and those 9-10 extra lbs just sit in my middle. YUCK. My Dh is considered overweight according to his BMI (he's 6' and he was sitting at 220lbs but he just informed me this evening he's 235lb!!) He had back surgery this past April so exercise is non existent currently and his weight is now starting to creep up. His dr keeps telling him ~ lose 20lbs thru portion control and you'll be fine ~ NOT! He loves fried foods which I won't cook but he'll get takeout ;-( Anyway I need to improve myself first and then I do believe he'll follow suit. He wants to he just really does need the help. I need to look thru all the recipes and make a menu. I wanted to re-introduce myself and then dive in.

Oh and should I do phase 1 partially again? I don't think eating out of habit is a craving though? Like I said I'm not eating bad things I'm just eating too much of the good things. Any suggestions? It's so easy to snack while I'm holding baby ~ maybe that's part of the problem?

You're right; you don't need to return to P1 at all.

Habit, habit, habit. I do it wirh night time eating. I just got sick of myself. It is a great time of year to lots of veggies and that is filling. Be aware, write it all down. Leila

Hi Joy,

I completely understand your struggle! I've been dealing a lot with too much snacking lately as well.

Joy,

Are you nursing the baby?

Thanks so much ladies, we aren't nursing (although my appetite seems to think otherwise!) I've added in 1 grain and 1 fruit. Next week I'll move to 2. In the past I never went into a phase 3. Is there a phase 3 anymore?? I don't really see mention of it now.

The baby is sleeping thru the night (Praise the Lord! lol!!) but whereas before I was concentrating on sleeping in the evenings now I have a bit of

There is definitely still a Phase 3.

Hi Joy,

Exercising at night is very dependent, IMHO, on the person and the type of exercise done.

I can take a 2 mile walk at 8:00pm and be fine, but if I do the same thing at 9:00pm it rejuvenates me and I'm full of energy until way past midnight.

I can do an upper body workout at 9:00pm and not be bothered in the least in terms of getting to sleep.

I think I've seen it recommended not to exercise within 2 hours of bed-time (possibly on this board, but other places as well).

All of that is to say that it can be very individual-dependent, and you need to find what works for you.
