McCafe Coffee

In my geographic area this week, local McDonald's began to launch their line of McCafe espresso-based coffees.  I tried one, and they are delicious.  The only SF syrup they carry is vanilla, but the lattes and cappuccinos are less than half of the price of Starbucks coffee, which is great for a struggling college student like myself.

They can be ordered with skim milk and SF syrup, and the calorie content seems to be even lower than Starbucks skinny lattes.  The nutritionals are available here: http://nutrition.mcdonalds.com/bagamcmeal/McCafeCoffees.pdf

Everyone agrees the nonfat, SF vanilla lattes are legal, right?

It looks like there are 80 calories in the 12 oz, which

I would say these are legal.

Technically, you should count the sf syrup calories toward your sweet treat calories. However, IMO very few of the calories are from the syrup. The nutritional information shows 80 calories for a 12 oz fat-free, sugar-free latte - I would hazard a guess that most of these calories are from the skim milk (there are approximated 80 calories in a one-cup serving of skim milk).

The calories are most likely from the milk and the sugar is the natural occurring sugar from the milk.

I'm glad these have changed - when McD's first added coffees to their menu over a year ago, they did have sugar-free vanilla, but the ONLY option was half/half. They originally did not offer skim milk as a choice. If that has changed, that's great!
