Wow, it's been a long time since I've been on the board. I'm really busy right now getting into the swing of things! I think Steph updated you all, but just in case, the twins are here. Jabe Mitchel and Dexter Shawn were born on July 21st. Both were about 6 pound 10 ounces. That's a really good size for twins! They both lost about 10% of their weight after they were born but they're finally gaining and both are back up and doing great! Neither of them had to got to the NICU and both were able to come home with us! I'm doing pretty well but recovering from a c-section is so much harder this time since I have 4 kids to take care of. Thank God for Shawn who is super Dad and for good friends! (And my Dad was here for 3 weeks after they were born.
I have a few questions. I'm not restarting SB yet. I read the thread on nursing and it said to wait 8 weeks to establish my milk supply. I've had issues in the past with that so I'm going to follow that advice. I'm just starting to look into things now so I can be ready when it's time to start. First, I'm concerned about starting and not doing Phase 1. I REALLY need that sugar detox. I don't really have issues with the bread or cereal but I have a huge sweet tooth... candy, donuts, brownies...I have no idea how I'm going to kick that habit without Phase 1. Second, I'm nursing twins. Does that increase my caloric needs needs more than one baby? I don't want to over eat and not lose weigh but I'm almost more concerned about under eating and hurting my milk production. Do I need more diary with twins? It said I need 4 cups of dairy for nursing. I'm assuming that was talking about nursing 1 baby. And lastly, I don't have time to look, (I've been typing this email for about an hour on and off!) is there a thread started with quick and easy foods? I'm really short on time and I've found that with 4 kids, I need to plan a head and cook meals that are fast.
Thanks in advance for the help! I'm really looking forward to getting started and getting my body back! We're going to Mexico in March so I have that motivating me. I can't wait!

It's good to *see* you Jammie!
Jammie,
It's great to hear from you!
I don't really know anything about nursing and SBD, but I do have a super sweet tooth and I started on P2 with no problems. I had done P1 in the past, and just really didn't like the way I felt when I was on it, so I just decided to skip it altogether. I haven't really had any problems with sugar cravings...that's one good thing about being able to eat fruit and SF pudding immediately. Fruit flavored yogurt also seems to curb my need to eat sweets. I've been doing this for a little over a month, and I only had one incident with a package of cinnamon rolls. Otherwise, it's been really easy to pass over the sweets.
Good luck and congratulations!
Aimee
Congrats Jammie! I'm glad you checked in! Wow on the weights for the twins! Both my kids were smaller than that and they were full term singles! So that is awesome!
I'd second what Maggie said - don't worry about "dieting" for awhile, but that doesn't mean you can't cut out the junk food. The babies don't need all that anyways - you milk supply will be much better off the healthier you eat. Let your body guide on the amounts, if you are hungry - eat. I would just eat whatever quantities you body is asking for right now - but chose healthy foods. Honestly, I know there is a big hype about phase 1 magically making your desire for junk go away - and maybe it works for some, but for me its always been about 99% choices. Even after 3.5 years I still "desire" things like brownies. I just chose not to react to that and I substitute those desires with healthy choices.
And healthy choices in food are something anyone can make at anytime/stage of their life - children, pregnant, nursing, etc. There is never a "danger" in chosing an apple or berries over brownies!

Hi Jammie! It's so good to see your post!
Jammie! Welcome back, and congrats on the birth of your twins! We want to see pictures! :-D
I don't have any experience with twins, but as far as dieting while nursing, my doctor said a "modified" P2 is fine as long as I'm getting in enough calories. I've been "kinda" back on the Beach, and I say "kinda" because I still eat some junk now and then. I'm working on cutting it out slowly. I'm not limiting my grain/fruit servings, I'm just trying to watch what I eat. Don't sweat it, though, the most important thing is that you're taking care of yourself and your babies.
Good to see you again!
Hi, Jammie -- It's great to see you again!!!
I'm really looking forward to starting again. I want my body back!! I can't really exercise because of the c-section. (Even brisk walking is still out of the question.) However, I did get the ok to start a water aerobics class. Our gym offers a beginners one that I should be able to handle. I'll be starting that soon. I'm excited to start. I've got a few weeks to get a plan together and work out some systems to make a schedule work for us. It will take more planning since we have a lot going on with 4 kids but I know it will work.
Ok, I've got some hungry babies. Better get moving! I'll have a new siggie made so I'll have pictures posted soon. Thank you all for the well wishes and great advice. It's nice to have the support!
Yay Jammie!!! I'm so glad you checked in! It sounds like you have a good plan, and we're always here for support. I can't even imagine how busy you must be right now, but we always love when you stop by! :)
Jammie, it's so great to hear from you!!! I'm behind on the DYK's, so I missed the messages about the births. I'm so happy for you..and so glad that everything went well and you and the babies are doing great!!! Wish I could offer some advice on the nursing, but I was never able to do that with my DD, because of health problems/medications. Sounds like those that know have given you some great advice tho. Can't wait to see your new siggie with a picture of the babies!!!
Take care and good luck with getting back in shape!!!
