Veggie Question

I know we're supposed to eat 4.5 cups of veggies every day.

I've seen posts where servings are mentioned in relation to veggies and have been meaning to ask about it for a while now.

How does the 4.5 cups equate to a number of servings?

If I eat what's considered a serving of a veggie, how does it count into the 4.5 cups?  I'm really bad at eye-balling things so if I can count a number of something (ie grape tomatos, baby carrots, celery stix, etc) I'll have a much better idea if I'm getting enough veggies daily.

Also, should the greens used in salads be counted toward the veggie total or not?  Or is that sort of a personal choice?

Sorry to be so retentive, but since I know veggies are where I likely don't get enough, I need to be sure I'm clear on how to tell.

Your salad greens are counted towards veggies.

I always eyeball my veggies too, but I have this picture in my head: 1 cup = a baseball or roughly the size of my fist,
