My name is Deb. My DH - John - had two heart attacks back in 2005. He underwent surgery and has been doing well since. This week he went back in to the cardiologist for a follow up and things looked great. However, his dr strongly suggested he look into the South Beach Diet. He said it was a healthy lifestyle for people with heart problems.
I've not bought the book - but plan to this weekend. I was reading on line today as well as looking at convenience products. Since I'm overweight - I figure it would be helpful for us to do it together.
One product I saw on line, that I've never notice in the store - is the chicken salad kits. Can anyone tell me if they have seen those in the store near them? If so - is it in the deli, refridgerated, or can (like with tuna) section? I've been working on my weight this year (down 22 pounds so far - but a long way to go) so I generally walk for 30 minutes at lunch, then try to eat something quick & easy after. Currently I'm eating a tuna sandwich & a 100 calorie pack of pringles. So, I could use a make over there and the chicken salad kit sounded yummy & convenient.
Personally, I use to weigh about 360 pounds. I had my stomach stapled back in 1998 and lost 197 pounds. But after our twins were born I was tired all the time & lazy. I put about 80ish pounds back on. So, like John - I have to work at getting my lifestyle back in check as well. However, my stomach stapling does cause problems. Like I have trouble keeping meat down still. I do like the Morning Star bean pattys, and often use those for breakfast or to throw on a salad for a source of protein.
Thank you for any insight you may have to offer about the program, and where to look for the best selection of the convenience products. My DH hates to read. :) So, I'd like to read, learn what I can for the both of us. . .and hopefully so we raise our DDs healthier.
