Has anyone seen the new commercials about HFCS? I think it's funny that they're trying to make it sound like HFCS is okay "when used in moderation." Even if true, exactly how are you supposed to achieve that moderation when it is hidden in so many foods?
I guess, in a way, these commercials are a good sign that more and more people are avoiding HFCS.
If you haven't seen the commercials, you can view them here:

I was at a healthy eating seminar lately where the lecturer talked about foods labelled as GRAS "generally recognized as safe".
from the site:
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted high fructose corn syrup "Generally Recognized as Safe" status for use in food, and reaffirmed that ruling in 1996 after thorough review.
How would you like going to a doctor who was GRAS?

Maybe they consider it GRAS because it's not like it's a chemical or a drug, and all it can really do is make you fat.
But if it can make you fat, that can lead to health problems that can have profound unsafe effects on you.
I guess the FDA hasn't figured out cause & effect relationships yet.
Notice who is sponsoring the new ads/website? The Corn Refiners Association. Makes me wonder if there's been a decrease in the use of their products......

Yep - I've seen them, they are on HGTV constantly. I couldn't believe it at first,I really thought it was some kind of joke.
