DH wants an espresso machine for Christmas, but doesn't want me to spend lots of $$$ on it.
So, with up to $100 to spend on it, does anyone have any suggestions??? Seems silly to spend all this money at Starbucks if we could make our own skinny lattes at home.

Hi Rebekah -- nice to have you back!
I have this Nespresso pot from William Sonoma.
Hi Rebekah!
I bought one as a gift last Christmas at Homegoods. It's a Krups model that was refurbished, and it makes fabulous espresso, steams the milk for lattes... they are at least as good as Starbucks. Be sure to buy whole bean coffee and grind just before using!

Thanks to all of you ladies!!!
Sue, you know, I don't even brew coffee at home right now??? DH doesn't drink coffee at home and I use some not-so-legal powder stuff for my one cup of coffee a day. But we have a really bad habit of treating ourselves at Starbucks every weekend. I could drink a skinny latte from there everyday, but at over $4 per cup, that would be wildly expensive. Even DD, almost 13yo, loves the decaf skinny lattes. So that's over $12 every weekend.
Thanks for the idea of brewing the coffee really strong. I'm working on getting some really good coffee that I'll probably have to grind myself. And we'll see how that works out!!!
Cathy, that machine looks really nice!!! Unfortunately, it's not going to be in the budget for Christmas this year. We're scaling back our Christmas spending because we've decided to take a New Year's Eastern Caribbean cruise this year. We'll leave on Christmas Day to drive down to Miami and board the ship on my birthday, December 27th. It's unbelievable how much they hike the price of cruises over the New Year holiday.
Are any Krups coffee makers amongst those sitting on your basement shelf??? We saw one on sale at Belk for about $100. But I don't know of anyone around here that has one.
Jolene, Homegoods is a good idea!!! I haven't been in my local store in forever and I forgot all about checking them for an espresso machine. Krups is what I was looking at. They appear to have at least a few models in my price range. I've never had good luck with anything refurbished from Homegoods, tho. I bought a scale there and had to return it because it didn't work. I'll have to have to go over there and look, tho. Thanks for the idea...and great name!!! Makes me think of Dolly Parton's song...!!!
This coffee grinding idea has brought up a whole new set of questions. I don't currently have a coffee grinder. And I don't suppose my magic bullet is going to do the job...or that I would want to use it for that. Guess I should look into a coffee grinder as well.
I wonder what I could do with just a milk frother and some really strong brewed coffee??? I've got a good selection of sf syrups that we use for smoothies. Seems a shame not to use flavors like English Toffee in a cup of coffee...

Add some cocoa powder and you could have a Heath Bar every day.
Oh Nancy, that does sound good!!!
I've been wanting a mocha skinny latte for a long time now. I hate that Starbucks discontinued their sf mocha syrup.
I wonder what the new holiday flavor will be this year???

Rebekah,
Look for one of these:
I think you're on to something.
I had one of those little frother things -- never used it so took it out of the kitchen, put in a garage sale box.
I'll try and find it -- if I do have it, I'll send it to you!
I used to have that frother and liked it a lot.
For good, strong coffee I recommend a French press.
