DH wants an espresso machine for Christmas, but doesn't want me to spend lots of $$$ on it.
So, with up to $100 to spend on it, does anyone have any suggestions??? Seems silly to spend all this money at Starbucks if we could make our own skinny lattes at home.

I really doubt that getting a machine will keep us from the once a weekend trip to Starbucks. I do fuss about the prices, but we keep the treating to a minimum. And it sounds like once a week is not too bad a habit after all !!!
I've been reading reviews on the machines in my price range and it looks like none of them are going to stand up to long-time use. They either fall apart, are too hard to work, or designed really poorly.
DH may just get a frother for Christmas this year!!!

Thanks for the link, Deb. I think the problem with this one is definitely that it only makes 1 cup at a time.
I had to laugh thinking about you standing in your kitchen rubbing your hands together to froth your own milk!!! I never thought of trying that!!!

BTW, I'm glad to see you around, Rebekah!
Hey Deb!!!
I'm so behind too!!! I've only had a chance to read a few DYK's this month and I gave up on July and August altogether. Shortly after we got home from vacation, we left again for a business trip down at the beach. And after that, I started back to work a few days a week. So life is hectic, leaving me with much less time to peruse the boards.
But the trip out west was just fantastic!!! We were gone for 2 1/2 weeks and although we had a blast, I was never so happy to see home again when we pulled into the driveway. Here's the list of highlights: Cowboy Hall of Fame (Oklahoma City), James Garner statue (Norman, OK), Grand Canyon (train trip from Williams, AZ to canyon, lodge overnight at the canyon), San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, Disneyland & California Adventures theme park, Santa Monica Pier, Hollywood, Simi Valley (Reagan Presidential Library), Las Vegas, Zion National Park, Denver, CO, and then 3 days traveling home...whew!!!
One thing I don't think I've mentioned yet is that we took Jamie's advice and ate at 'Earth, Wind, and Flour'. They have awesome whole wheat pizza...thanks for the tip, Jamie!!!
Between the 3 of us, we took literally hundreds of pictures. We're working on a scrapbook and DH still wants to put some pictures in a online gallery...someday. When he does, I plan to post the link so everyone can look thru the pics of our trip.
I think it will be 2 or 3 years before we take another driving trip like this again. And it will probably be up the East coast next time. It was so much fun...but also exhausting!!!

I was at Costco today, and they had Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee.
