Maggie, DH & I are planning to spend our 20th anniversary weekend in Savannah, arriving 9/20. We'll be there late on Friday and leave the following Monday. We're looking for places to go and a few nice places to eat to celebrate. Can you give me some ideas of things we just don't want to miss while we're there??? I've been looking at the www.savannahvisit.com website, but there is so much on there that I'm at a loss as to what to pick!!!
Thanks so much for any info you can give!!!

Congrats on your anniversary!
Lucky you!!
Savannah is on my wish list of places to visit. If I were going, I would stay here: http://www.mansiononforsythpark.com/default_.asp
Just my two cents....hope you have a memorable anniversary!
Well, I guess Savannah is more of a hot spot for anniversaries than I thought!!! I really don't know much about the city..except for Paula Deen's restaurant. And we will be eating there..but only once!!! We stopped at her new restaurant at Harrah's in Tunica, MS on our way out west in July. Very nice...and the food was very good. I actually did pretty well there, except for the ooey gooey butter cakes!!!
Thanks for the anniversary well wishes. Twenty years is quite an accomplishment, as is ten years!!! I'll be sure to let you know what we wind up doing.

Oh, that place looks marvelous, Karen!!! And very expensive!!! We won't be staying anywhere really expensive this time. We've got some free nights built up, so we'll be staying at one the cheaper spots on this trip. I'm hoping to do some mansion tours while we're there tho. Take carriage ride and walk around the shops. That's all I have on my list so far.

Charleston is so pretty!!! We took a cruise out of there last year sometime. We took a carriage ride and walked around the Open Market area. After the cruise, we shopped some more before heading home. It's a wonderful old town. So much history there. You must love living there!!!

Charleston is very nice-- I am new to the area, though, so I am still learning!
I took a cruise out of Port Canaveral last year when we lived in Atlanta, so we drove down about 8 hours...

We really enjoyed the short cruise from NCL out of Charleston. We were supposed to go just to the NCL private island, but there was an emergency on ship, so we docked at Nassau instead. It was our second trip to Nassau, but we still enjoyed it. It's always pretty out there and lots of shopping to done!!!

Ok I am not Maggie however I do live about an hour away from Savannah however my dh and I visit there at least once a month.
Here are a few places to vist:
City Market, live band and dancing outdoors
River Street, lovely little river walk along with several eateries and shoppes
That's immensely helpful, lorikay. Thanks so much!!!
I'm going to save all of these ideas and talk them over with DH tonight. The seafood restaurant sounds really great. We both love seafood!!! Any particular dish that you would suggest???
I'm sure we will do some sort of carriage ride and I would love to do a riverboat cruise as well. I'm sure we'll find plenty to do while in Savannah!!!
