Maggie, DH & I are planning to spend our 20th anniversary weekend in Savannah, arriving 9/20. We'll be there late on Friday and leave the following Monday. We're looking for places to go and a few nice places to eat to celebrate. Can you give me some ideas of things we just don't want to miss while we're there??? I've been looking at the www.savannahvisit.com website, but there is so much on there that I'm at a loss as to what to pick!!!

Thanks so much for any info you can give!!!

Saltwater Grill is wonderful! I have honestly never had a meal I didn't like.

The Salmon is wonderful! It is served on a bed of roasted veggies.

Tha crab cakes are to die for.

If you want to go off of SBD try to get the Seafood Nachos! OH MY GOSH!!! That is a starter.

The only thing I didn't just love is the prime rib. It was not my favorite. Still good though.

One of favorites is the Crispy Scored Flounder. It is served with a fruit chutney. Sounds bad taste great!

Another place if you want a combo thing....The Pirates House has a dinner mystery

That's fabulous, lorikay!!! We just might try the dinner/mystery theater place. That would be something that we've never done before and I think we would enjoy that. If we do that, I'll let you know how it turns out.

Thanks again for all your suggestions. Since we'll only be there for 2 full days, I'm sure there will lots of things that we'll have to pass on for on this trip. I guess that will just mean we have to go back sometime!!!

Ok, if you are going off SBD in Savannah (or Charleston, for that matter), you must go to River Street Sweets (aka Market Street Sweets in Charleston).

I don't think a sample would hurt!!! After all, a 20 year anniversary is worth a little bit of sugar, I think!!!

Thanks for the suggestion, beccalinda. We'll have to check this place out!!!

Thanks Sue!!!

Absolutely, you deserve credit for those 11 years!!! DH & I worked together before we started to date. We worked non-stop almost, so we were together a lot. Even so, when we got engaged, it was a huge shock to some people we worked with. Guess we did a good job at keeping that part a secret!!!

Oh Sue...those ooey gooey butter cakes are to die for!!! I had a bite of both the chocolate and the regular or vanilla ones and I have to say that even though I'm a huge fan of chocolate, the regular ones were better. To me they tasted something like chess pie squares. If you've ever had those you'll know what I'm talking about. I'm sure there was absolutely nothing healthy in them, but for a treat ever now and then, on special occasions, why not??? I've got to check my Paula Deen Christmas cookbook and see if that recipe is in there. May be just as well if I don't have that recipe!!!

I have the perfect excuse for not doing much holiday cooking this year. We're going on a birthday cruise this year. We'll be boarding the ship on my birthday, 2 days after Christmas. So I'm just going to bake/cook for family get-togethers and not worry about having any goodies around the house for holidays this year, since we won't be home!!!

I wouldn't mind going back to Charleston. There was lots there that we didn't have time to see on our last trip!!!

This isn't "the" map I was looking for, but it does have the names of all of the squares on it, plus some main points of interest, so it's a

I just read back through all the posts and noticed that others recommended Pearl's Saltwater Grille, too!
