Water?

Well, it's been 8 weeks since the twins were born. It's time to get serious again about doing South Beach. It's amazing how fast you forget all of the little details. I've been digging around on the site and starting my grocery list ready. One thing I haven't found though is how much water I should be shooting to have every day. I want to make sure I'm getting enough. I'm so excited to take my body back!! I'll be on as much as I can but it's hard with a preschooler, a toddler and 2 newborns.

Hi Jamie,
I'm glad we're going to be seeing you on a regular basis again.
There isn't any rules on South Beach about water.
The formula I always use is half your body weight in ounces. So if you weight 150, then 75 oz. a day. It always seemed to match up pretty well with my "natural thirst". Then you need to add more for exercise, heat, etc. I weight 115, so that would be about 57oz, I usually end up drinking about 24 more on gym days, then another 16-24 more a day in the summer. I don't really worry about the numbers or try to get a certain amount, that is just what it usually ends up as when I am listening to my body and drinking when thirsty.
And if you are nursing, you need even more. A lot of mom's get dehydrated from nursing. I didn't know how much more water I needed, and I actually got dehydrated to the point of dizziness and headaches. When I called my dr. he said, "how much water are you drinking?", sure enough, it wasn't enough.
