Let the SBD Holiday Challenge Begin!!
| Wed, 10-01-2008 - 6:21am |
Today is the first day of our SBD Holiday Challenge. Wednesday will be our check-in day each week. This challenge will carry us through December 31st (which, ironically, is on a Wednesday). Anyone can join the challenge at any time.
Here's a thought to get you started...
"You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it." -Margaret Thatcher
Post your introduction to this thread...your name, how long you've been following SBD, and your three-month goal. Then post your goal for this week. Perhaps it will be to exercise a certain number of days; try meal planning for the week; to try a new food; or whatever you think will help you jump-start this challenge.
Good luck!

I've been following the SBD way of eating for a little over 1½ years now.
Needless to say, relatives visited from New York, I went off SBD and did not return. I ended up gaining back weight again. Now I am back to the beginning. I started again this past Monday with Phase 1. I am motivated to do this. So far so good. I already see a 4 lb. loss which is great! I began at 145, and now the scale says 141. I guess water weight, but it is awesome and motivating!!!
My 3 month goal is to lose 10 lbs. from here so I would then be around 131 which is where I was last year. My ultimate goal would be 125 lbs.
I look forward to this challenge!
I've been on SB since the end of March - about 6 months. At my lowest (Saturday) I had lost 34 pounds, unfortunately by Monday night/Tuesday Morning I'd "gained" over 5 pounds. Which is why I think I "need" this challenge, I hit a low and then go up again. I'm down to 31.4 pounds lost this morning so I'm getting back on track...again. And I'm not very consistent with exercising, probably because I really don't like it.
My ultimate goal for the challenge is to lose 15+ pounds. I don't think this is to far out there because even with my recent gain, I'm still averaging about 5 pounds a month. In addition to my weight loss goal, I also have to get through busy season at work and the dinners we have. Generally, other than salad, there's little if anything legal so I have a feeling that I will be eating a lot of Ceaser salads November-January. I'm hopeful that I will have a repeat of July and actually lose weight despite the food options (we ate, on average, 3 cakes a week during the month of July - mostly cheesecakes).
This week's challenge is going to be pretty basic as I will be away from home (and unable to have control over the majority of my eating) Thursday-Monday. My goal is to eat as SB as possible, and when that's not possible to eat as healthy as possible - i.e. "extra" fruit over cookies, not completely legal grains over "white" or obviously illegal grains, etc.
*Edit* I almost forgot! Unless you've caught a random DYK or Post-off post you don't know that my name is Elizabeth :-)
*Editx2* I changed my goal to 15+ pounds...I decided I'm not going to let myself slack off and I'll lose the extra 5 pounds I gained over the weekend. I want to be 10+ pounds lower than my lowest low.

I've been following South Beach since September 2003.
I have been doing South Beach off and on for about 3.5 years....mostly off during that time.

Ok, I guess I'm in. :-)
I've been on SB for 3 years...? That seems like so long! I should be at my goal by now. My highest weight was 240, but I started SB at 215 or so. I got really sidetracked my first year of law school, and then again this past summer. I've been baking more and eating whatever I want, which has lead to a ten pound weight gain. My lowest was around 170 (I hit 168.8, but only for a day), and right now I'm at 183. I've been at 183 since June and just cannot seem to get back into the 170's.
I exercise 4-5 times a week, and I'm training for my first 5K. My real problem is food. I eat mostly very healthy foods. But when I bake, I eat 6 or 7 cookies instead of just one, which prevents me from losing weight.
My goal for this challenge is to lose 13 pounds to get back to where I was at 170, but my ultimate goal is to be at 150. I really want to be done with losing weight!
I have been back on the beach since August and have lost 8 pds so far and I am at 119.
I am joining the challenge!
I have been on SBD for 5 years. I reached my goal weight in the first year and have been following a cycle of creeping up, holding steady, creeping up, etc. for quite a while now. I am presently only 7 pounds down from my starting weight 5 years ago and I don't want to get there again! I want to be at my goal weight of 130 by my birthday, November 29th --- that's 6 pounds which shouldn't be too hard; it's keeping it off that will be the hard part and my goal from November 29 to the end of this challenge (and beyond)!
I like the idea of weekly goals. My goal for this week is to eat "100% SB clean". I am going to follow a phase 2 light this week and move onto a full phase 2 next week.
The key for me is meal planning. I need to get back into that habit this week also.
Good luck everyone!!
I have been on South Beach since May 1st!
