Thinking of starting...

Hi!  I'm a returning ivillage-er.  I did SBD in 2005, quite successfully!  I was 127 lbs and I got down to 117 in time for my brother-in-law's wedding.  however, I didn't find SBD to be something I could maintain long-term, so I eventually gained those 10 lbs (or some of them) back.  But, why would I sustain it??  I was 127 lbs to start!  Not hardly a weight problem!!!

Now, 3 years later I have a BEAUTIFUL baby girl named Sophie, and I'm 30 lbs heavier as a result.  I gained 56 lbs during pregnancy (some my fault, some my body's needs during pregnancy - mostly my fault, though!)  Sophie is now 15 months old, and I'm still holding on to 25 lbs from pregnancy.  I've worked VERY hard to lose them.  WW didn't work, calorie counting didn't work.  I've worked out like CRAZY...step aerobics, lifting, Zumba, personal trainer, running...now I've settled out at lifting 2x per week, running 3x per week, zumba 1x per week) but I still can't shed the weight.

I have finally seen it start to come off using a meal plan from my personal trainer...using good carbs, good fat, LOW SUGAR...and it's starting to work!  I've lost 3 lbs in the last 2 weeks!  But...her meal plan was $75 and it has 1 day's worth of meals that I eat EVERY...SINGLE...DAY.  I think I can use these principles to lose weight and not have to eat the same 6 meals every day.  I think it revealed that the key is sugar.  My body just holds on to sugar now!  I got my bloodwork done, and my triglycerides were 186 (above the 150 limit) and I think this gives credibility to my sugar problem (though I'm not technically insulin resistant.)

But thinkint back to South Beach, I think it could give me the variety I'm not getting on my trainer's meal plan without spending $75 on another plan!  Plus, it's the same principles (clean food, good carbs, good fats) so I'm not "off" her diet...just maintaining it in a more cost-effective way!

I used this board A LOT when I was doing SBD before, and I'm certain I will use it again this time around!  But this time, I think I can do it long-term, because there is a weight problem involved...I have a closet full of clothes I can't wear!!!  That's a problem!
