My Dh Mark called me on my way home from work to let me know where he'll be for the evening.
His dad has been at an assisted living place that specialized in alzheimers/dementia patients. In addition to the alzheimers/dementia, his dad has cancer. He's actually had various types for almost 20 years, and the latest things they decided not to do anything except monitor due to his overall health not being good. In addition to the cancer stuff, he also has emphasyma (sp?) and maybe even other things.
At any rate, Mark was at the assisted living place, with his mom, waiting for an ambulance to come take his dad to the hospital. He's been going downhill the past few days, and I guess today he's leaning really bad to one side and isn't doing well. It was also determined, at least that's my understanding, that his lymphatic system has been affected by everything. I don't know if that exactly means the cancer is in that system, but I think it does.
At any rate, all the prayers that can be mustered right now will be appreciated. It would truly take a miracle, which I know is possible, to turn things around dramatically. Prayers for wisdom for the medical staff and peace for the family are really what's needed right now. Pray, too, that I'll be able to provide the necessary support to Mark no matter what the outcome is.
Needless to say, I'm a bit of a wreck right now, and I'm home and away from it all. I'm going to go out to Target with Marisa and work on her Wish List for Christmas. She knows nothing -- at 7 she doesn't need to yet -- but Anthony (19) and Nick (17) are aware of what's going on. I'm so thankful that my parents are in better health than Mark's. That may sound selfish, but I think everyone reading this knows what I mean.
Sorrythis was so long. It was hard to find all the right words. Thanks in advance. God Bless!!!

Nancy,
Big hugs.
Positive thoughts from me too!! Miracles can happen and many times patients take a turn for the better and hold on for longer than anyone would think. Being there for Mark when he needs to talk and for the boys is a good place for you. Hang in there!!!
Nancy, sending my prayers and positive thoughts to you and your family.
Hey Nancy,
I'm sorry to hear about Mark's Dad. I know this is tough. I've been there with my own Father and with DH's father as well. Rest assured that my thoughts and prayers are with you all in this difficult time. Please keep us up-to-date on your FIL's condition.
