Jillian was admitted to the hospital on Saturday morning. She came home from college on Friday evening because she hasn't been feeling well and wanted to rest this weekend at home. When she woke up on Saturday morning she had a fever and looked very pale and run down. Jillian has a history of severe bleeding associated with ulcerative colitis. After a quick trip to the pediatrician she sent us over to the hospital for blood work and other tests. We've been here since.
They think there is something else going on besides the UC. Her fever keeps spiking very high 103 to 104 and they're searching for an underlying infection. At this point she hasn't really eaten since Monday or Tuesday and everything she does eat immediately comes out the other end so she isn't getting any nutritional benefit. In order to get her protein/albumin, potassium levels back up to safe levels they're going to need to put her on a feed tube tonight.
Prayers would be appreciated.

I'll apologize now if this sounds harsh -- it isn't meant to.
If it's any consolation Cathy, the Remicade has worked wonders for my DH. It's not always a quick fix, tho. I think he was on it for about a year and a half before being pronounced in remission. He went for treatments every 6 weeks during that time. But I'm very certain that he would not now be in remission without it.
Is she taking anything else in addition to the Remicade??? DH is still on the Asacol and a small dosage of Imuran daily.
We're holding you all close in our prayers. Hopefully, the drs will get on with what is necessary to make Jillian feel better very soon.

I hope you get some answers soon.
Prayers still coming your way, hoping that all coming together.
And, on a lighter note, how did Frank do on the scavenger hunt?
Hi Shiela,
We're doing ok.
Thanks, Rebekah.
Well something's got to work sooner or later. And we certainly hope sooner!!!
I've not heard of the Lialda and mercaptopurine. I'll have to do some studying on that. I like to try to stay up-to-date on these things. Never know when it can come in handy.
DH is having some muscle/joint issues lately and we think it might be Crohn's related. He's technically still in remission, but I think he might have just had a minor flare-up in the last week or so. This is the first time it has involved muscle & joint pain. There's still so much to learn about all this...

Oh Cathy, I'm so sorry this is all happening.
Not harsh and very true.
