Jillian was admitted to the hospital on Saturday morning. She came home from college on Friday evening because she hasn't been feeling well and wanted to rest this weekend at home. When she woke up on Saturday morning she had a fever and looked very pale and run down. Jillian has a history of severe bleeding associated with ulcerative colitis. After a quick trip to the pediatrician she sent us over to the hospital for blood work and other tests. We've been here since.
They think there is something else going on besides the UC. Her fever keeps spiking very high 103 to 104 and they're searching for an underlying infection. At this point she hasn't really eaten since Monday or Tuesday and everything she does eat immediately comes out the other end so she isn't getting any nutritional benefit. In order to get her protein/albumin, potassium levels back up to safe levels they're going to need to put her on a feed tube tonight.
Prayers would be appreciated.

Cathy,
This is wonderful news for Jillian (and for you!).
Cathy,
That's such great news about Jillian!
That's fantastic, Cathy!!!
I know you and Jillian will be so happy to be home. I'm sure she will feel so much better once you're able to get her home and in her own bed and familiar surroundings.
Enjoy a good night's sleep tonight...both of you!!!

Cathy, I'm so glad to hear that's she's doing so much better. I'm sure both of you will enjoy sleeping in your own beds immensely. And it's really great that all of her professor's are willing to work with her, but you're right - she shouldn't even think about her gpa this semester, her health is so much more important!
As for her diet, are you going to be able to recognize the foods she needs? Maybe you should take a picture of white bread and white rice so you don't get confused!
-Boston Run to Remember Half Marathon, 5/29/11 (2:35:11, no training!)
-Corporate Run, 3.5 miles 6/2/11 (36:38, 4 days after running the half!)
-BAA 10k, 6/26/11 (1:04:52, wanted to be under an hour...)
-Tavern to Tavern
LOL.
