This is the plan {long}

I've been reading and printing threads for the last 5 hours.  LOL  Well not really....but pretty close.  And I've officially devised a plan.

I have PCOS and my husband and I have been ttc #2 for nearly 2 years.  Apparently losing just 10% of your weight can help out my inferitily situation.  So that's my goal.  At first it was 70lbs to bring me to my pre-pregnancy weight, but I think if I divide that in half, that's going to work perfectly for me.  Baby steps  {pun intended haha}

Like I said, I've been reading threads for most of the day today and I still have some questions:

1.  What exactly is a SBD peanut butter cup?  The only thing I can come up with is sugar free chocolate pudding over some PB.  But I'm curious.

2.  Exactly how long is phase 1?  I know it says on the bottom of the "getting started" page to skip phase one if you have PCOS, but I think I really need it to help curb the cravings, so I'm going to do it.  Before today, I thought phase 1 was 10 days, but it looks like it's 2 weeks?  I just want to know for sure.

3.  Ricotta cheese.  I love it.  Do you just eat it plain in phase 1? and how much? and then add fruit in phase 2?

I don't think I'm going to get any almonds or nuts when I go shopping tonight.  I just can see myself eatting waaaaay too many of them and falling off the wagon.  I am however going to get some sugar free jello, orange is my favorite.

I'm really new to this.  My dr. mentioned it at an appointment the other day and I thought I'd see what it was all about.  She said that a lot of women with PCOS have major sucess with this and she strongly encouraged me to try it.  So here I am.  I've read a couple of threads where women have lost weight and found themselves pregnant.  God, I hope that's me.

It will be, because I'm going to do this!!!!!!!

I'm so glad I found this forum, everyone seems so friendly!

thanks again.

Hi there!

Just wanted to let you know that I, too, am a PCOS'r too! Like Sue, my cycles have returned after years of maybe 3-4 periods per year. I've been on/off SB for almost 4 years now. My periods stay fairly regular if I stay below a certain weight. (which is GOOD, but it's not fun being 'regular' when you don't need to be.. :S )

I am not TTC, but with cycles like these, I am sure it would be a lot easier now that using fertility meds to have DD#1. I needed to do phase one, also. I know it's recommended that we don't, but I felt so much better after the detox! This made it so much easier to stay eating well. Just be sure you don't feel faint or dizzy, and eat 5 times every day especially on phase one. Eat a little even if you aren't hungry when it's 'time', because it prevents that big dip in blood sugar.

Good luck, and know there are many of us 'cysters' on the board with you!

No time for a long post. I have 11 week old twin boys to get to bed! :) I also have PCOS and a lot of fertility problems. I did 9 rounds of drugs with no success. I took 3 months off of the drugs, did SB and got pregnant with them on the first cycle when we restarted. I know that SB is to thank for that. Stick to it and it will work for you. :) Off to get them to bed. :)
