Body Fat

Yesterday I got a new scale that also measures body fat. Boy did that open my eyes!! I am 5" 1' and weigh 120 pds. I know at my height I could really lose about 5 more pounds, but I was feeling pretty good and fitting into my size 4 jeans fine. When I got on my scale my body fat was at the edge of moderate to high! I am finding a hard time getting exercise in, but I now am going to be trying a little harder. When I talked about this to my DH(who is a doctor) he looked at me and said "I've been telling you this for years"--well who really listens to their doctor, esp. when he is also your DH:) I guess it took seeing it in numbers for me to get it.

Don't you hate those kind of "I told you so's"????
Yep - body fat is what its all about. Weight doesn't really give you a total picture.
I saw first hand the different that decreasing body fat and exercise made in my body/size. When I first started losing, I dropped about 1 size for every 10 lbs. When I kicked up the exercise as I neared my goal weight and started really concentrating on weight lifting and reducing body fat, just going from about 120-115 I dropped 2 sizes, even though it was only 5lbs. It was because during that time I went from 25% body fat to 20%. And even now, after maintaining for 3 years, I've been working harder at the gym and gotten down to 16.7% body fat and dropped another whole size, even though I am still 115lbs.
I'm sure you'll be thrilled and amazed by the difference, especially if you really hit the weights/build muscle to reduce that body fat number!
