We can help each other get through Thanksgiving without too much damage...how do you manage to stick to SBD (or close to it) during Thanksgiving?  Do you choose to indulge for a day, then get right back on track?  Or, do you just make the best decisions you can given all of the food choices?

Share your plan for success, and maybe you can also pick up some tips from others.

Holidays are pretty easy for me - we don't live near family so it is always just us and I have control.

There are plenty of other times that I go to functions though - when we do visit. Its usually pretty easy. I come from a family that may not do ALL healthy foods, but they always have at least SOMETHING healthy that I can choose from, so even if I don't get a full meal or can't eat everything offered, I can just stick to the veggies or salad, pick the leanest meat, etc. and still eat.

Its just us this year at home, nice & quiet, so I do have full control.

Mostly will be SB friendly, though not completely due to a couple of DH's fav's.

My sister is hosting Thanksgiving this year. I won't have any problems because I am not fond of stuffing, dinner rolls or pumpkin pie. I am bringing fauxtatoes so I'll be eating those, the turkey and other veggies. The only thing that may not be 'on plan' is some gravy and whatever appetizers she may be making (I'll use the 3-bite rule, if I must!)

I don't like any traditional holiday food, or the people that go along with it, so I either skip the celebration, or I go, eat beforehand and take a long walk by myself while others are eating. Last Easter I did that and was very successful. I took a walk, and when I came back, I collected DH and we were on our way home, without me having to talk to a single family member, it was great!

When it's a smaller gathering where I can't escape, I take 1 slice of turkey and the rest of my plate is veggies. I refuse to waste calories on food I don't like.

My negativity towards holidays and food stems from the fact that I don't trust other people's cooking, (I pretty much assume every dish is full of grease and sugar and bacteria) 'traditional' holiday food is not what I'm used to eating, family closeness is a concept I am completely unfamiliar with.

I honestly wish I could host so that I could make SBD-friendly items!
