Ok, so I looked over some of the older posts about plateaus and stalling and I have stalled!
I have weighed the same since Dec 1st!!! Now while I'm super pleased I did NOT gain during this holiday-eat-fest! I am getting a little bummed that the scale isn't moving.
It looks like the biggest suggestion seems to be increase exercise and/or change it up...here's my thing, I have a treadmill at home, and I really enjoy using it, does anyone have a good workout routine for the treadmill that might help me blast through this plateau? I usually try to run about 3 times a week for about 2 - 2.5 miles but I think maybe some hills, speeadwork, etc...might be in order to get me going...anyone else out there use a treadmill have any suggestions???
Any tips for busting out of this stall would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Melissa

Its not uncommon to "pump up" when first starting a weight training program - both in temporary muscle size and in weight on the scale.
You are most likely seeing post-workout inflammation. Fluid rushes to your muscles to help "heal" the micro tears you make when strength training (this "healing" is actually how muscles grow - so its a good thing in the long run).
Many women mistake this initial/temporary fluid retention in muscles as one of two things: "bulking up" (which its not) or weight gain (again - its not). They then respond by decreasing intensity of workouts.
If you stick it out a couple weeks until your muscles get into a routine, you will notice a trend in the other direction on the scale.
This still happens to me if I haven't worked out in a while (when I had pneumonia this year and took about 3 weeks off the gym I a brief period of fluid retention/scale going up about 3lbs when I first started back to lifting - didn't change ANYTHING else, still eating the same as for 3 years) After about 2 weeks it stopped and I leveled back off at my regular maintenance weight.
I HIGHLY recommend this book:
