I have been reading some of your stories and I have to say that I’m really proud I am of all of you for making the decision of taking care of yourselves.
Some of your stories have really shocked me on how horrible your eating habits were prior to taking control of yourselves and bring hopes to me.
I have to admit, I wasn't much better. I never ate breakfast, or lunch, and would live on coffee all day long. And when I'd get home from work, I'd be starving and would eat all evening until I went to bed. My husband and I would make quick dinners. It had to be, because we were famished. It would be hamburgers, sloppy Joes, hamburger, and then in the evenings we'd snack on chips and other type of sweet deserts and other junk food.
This summer my husband and I visited New York City. I almost died!! If you can’t stand the heat, do not visit NY!! Here I am, 70 pounds overweight, I’m suffering from a bad heart walking everywhere and taking the subway in the flipp’n heat! I decided then that I had to find something that I could stick with that will help me get healthy again. It was that or I was definitely going to slowly kill myself!!
In early December I found out that I am going to be going in for open-heart surgery. My cardiologist informed me that, in order for me to be healthy to better recover, I have to get in shape and loose the weight.
When I informed him about the South Beach diet, he was thrilled! He informed me that It was a very successful program as long as you follow the rules.
Since I started the Beach I have been feeling so much better. I’m eating my three meals a day, and snacking in between, I’m drinking my water (I put a lemon in it to change the taste!) and I try to exercise as much as I can.
And even though I rarely post, I’m here every day because you all inspire me!!
