Top 10 diets

I just read this article on the top ten American diets.
http://health.msn.com/weight-loss/consumer-diet-guide/default.aspx?GT1=31036
I was so shocked to read the cons for SBD. Has this Dr. actually studied this diet?

Obviously even the people writing the article didn't have a clue...
In the "pros" they quote it being a "balanced" diet, in the "cons" they quote it being "unbalanced" - how's that for great writing?
Most people, media and even doctors don't have a clue about South Beach. First clue this dr. doesn't know diddley about it - he says you can go into ketosis. Nope. Not on South Beach. Phase 1 of South Beach includes about 2x more grams of carbs per day than even the maintenance phase of Atkins. Do most people know that? Nope.
Generally if you don't put a "name" on it, especially a name that says "diet" then people think its great. I went to a new doctor here and we discussed my weight loss. He asked how I did it and I said: "I cut out the sugar, saturated fat and white carbs. I switched to healthy fats and whole grains. I eat only lean protein, TONS of veggies, fruits, and low-fat dairy." His comment? "That's great - glad you didn't do it with some fad diet like Atkins or South Beach" I just keep my mouth shut because I've TRIED to educate people and they DON'T/WON'T get it.

This is a terrible article in general.
Oh, geez. I agree with the previous posters that this article was terribly written. And yes, it does seem that when you put the word "diet" to anything it is automatically considered a "fad" or bad for you. It's funny how when you describe South Beach simply as the previous poster did, in its basic pieces, it's great - but if we try to talk about it as the South Beach Diet and get excited about it, we come across as part of a cult or something!
I had seen another article like this in which South Beach wasn't even discussed, although the Sonoma diet was included and is very similar.
It's really too bad that South Beach is so misunderstood.
I agree, I too am annoyed by the fact that people tend to judge this lifestyle and yet they have no idea what it is all about.
