I am scared. I am nervous. But, strangely, confident. I want to be able to be sure that I'm not going to quit on myself this time.
I tried South Beach once before and lost 5 pounds in the first week. It was a great success and I didn't find it TOO difficult to follow. I'm doing much better planning and I have the support of my fiance this time. I'm not "hiding" my diet so people do see that I fail. People know so that hopefully I can in turn support me.
Anywho. Since technically I haven't been here in a while, I'll re-introduce myself!
My name is Meg, and I am 22 years old. I'm 5' 10" and weigh 330. I am engaged to my fiance of 6+ months, we have been together for a little over 2.5 years. I live in Virginia. I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and also am attempting to manage anxiety/depression. I hope that this will balance out with weight loss.
Also on my list, aside from health reasons, is to generally feel better about myself. And also to feel good in a wedding dress come the fall of 2010! =)
So I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here. I'm looking forward to supporting you and being supported by you.
Faithfully,
Meg

Hi Meg,
Welcome back!
It's recommended that people with PCOS start in phase 2.
I remember reading that before, that women with PCOS should start in Phase 2. However, I am not Insulin Resistant, and all of my other levels are good (my PCP just did my bloodwork for my physical), so I'm going to start with Phase 1 and see how it goes. If I am finding my health to be iffy/in question then I will certainly adjust to Phase 2. =)
But thank you for the link again! I'm reviewing it now again.

Good Luck with coming back to the beach. I too was diagnosed with PCOS this fall. I have the insulin resistance and take metformin which has been helpful. As you probably already know this is the place to get the best advice and support.
