this is my third day on the atkins diet i'm doing the phase 1 the scale says i've lost 4 lbs. already theres not a whole lot u can eatfor the first 2wks.no bread no cereal no fruit no milk. i'm sick of eggs i need more food choices, has anyone done this diet or can give me some pointers. waiting to hear

That might be different because South Beach and Atkins really don't have a lot of similarities at all.
South Beach is low-fat, Atkins is not. South Beach includes many foods Atkins does not. South Beach focuses on leveling of blood sugar and controlling insulin levels, where as Atkins is all about ketosis (in South Beach it is BAD to go into ketosis, in Atkins it is one of the main objectives) We do not count or even look at carb grams on South Beach, but Atkins requires it.
So really, despite the media's confusing that they are both "low carb" they are not. Phase 1 of South Beach (the most restrictive phase) includes more grams of carbs per day than the maintenance phase of Atkins.
