Just curious what gyms/fitness centers people belong to.  We currently belong to LifeTime Fitness, but it's a bit pricey.

I'm also curious what amenities your places have -- child care, pools, running track, showers, locker rooms, class and equipment selections, etc.

A women's place opened at my corner:  LOA Fitness for Women.  Does anyone know anything about that place?  My understanding is that it's a step up from another women's fitness center, but I can't remember which one.  I do know it isn't Curves.

Thanks for any input anyone can provide, either from current or past memberships.

Karen,

Isn't there a gym on her campus?

Cathy-
They have a great facility at Lauren's school. For some reason none of the girls in her sorority go there - I think it's too crowded. And of course, the campus gym is virtually free.

Check to see if there is a rec center in your area. Ours is 25 dollars for a year, if you live in the zip code of the center. We live just outside the correct zip code, so it cost us 100 dollars for the year. This includes free weights, machines, racquetball, a track, basketballcourts and tennis.

I'm seriously experiencing gym envy LOL! I really miss the spinning classes and access to all of that equipment...I'm going to have to do some shopping around. Last gym I belonged to was New York Sports Club, which was something insane like $75 a month. Bally had offered a $19.99 a month rate not long ago, but the closest gym is a good 30 minutes away...it will take a lot of willpower to get my butt there on a regular basis. We've got Gold's all over the place here...I'll check that out, too.

Great info!
