Is your man working on getting healthier/losing weight with you? Did you have to trick him or force him to join you?If so, How did you get him to jump on the bandwagon with you? If not, have you been working on ideas to get him to join you?

My husband does not need to lose weight, but was eating too much sugar. For health reasons, he could stand to lay off of it. I started using whole wheat products without mentioning it to him, and he didn't notice the difference! Now, he is as accustomed as I am to eating whole wheat pasta and brown rice. He has been very supportive, and pretty adventurous about

Also, I replaced his fatty ground beef dishes with ground turkey or extra lean ground beef.

Great idea on the burgers! My man is also a big beef eater so I too replaced his regular ground beef with extra lean. It's a bit more expensive but well worth it I think.

Now, how do you get your man to the Dr. for regular check ups? lol

We don't call it a diet.

Cathy, I agree with the "healthy eating" versus "dieting" -- we do the same in our house!

Last January, DH got a checkup and found his cholesterol levels were through the roof. Like, scary high. In addition to statin medication, we switched up a lot of our usual food choices (like some of the PPs): whole grains instead of white or processed, 97% lean ground beef or turkey, cut way back on red meat consumption, cut back on the sweets. His cholesterol levels are now within normal limits, and he lost 15 pounds in the process. Since I restarted South Beach at the beginning of this year, he's been doing a semi-modified version alongside.

He has an appointment with the doc tomorrow...we'll see how he's doing!

"Is your man working on getting healthier/losing weight with you?"

In our case, Chris found SBD in August 2003, began following it on his own, and began losing weight before I did.

We also dont call it a diet we call it "get used to eating this way b/c its going to be like this from now on" lol

My dh gained about 60 lbs in 2 years and his dr has been on him about losing weight. He tries and fails and trieds and fails. I put him on SB once and he ouldn't do it after a week.

My DH is naturally skinny (annoyingly so!) and so is his family so he doesn't need to lose weight.
