Weight loss surgery?
Before I read "Half-assed", a weight loss memoir about a women who loses 1/2 her body weight, I really thought that weight loss surgery was the only option for someone who was as overweight as myself. Reading "Half-assed" gave me hope and the inspiration that lead me to believe that I could lose weight, and ultimately to finding SBD. Since being on SBD and having lost weight on my own has lead my to believe that people who get weight loss surgery just arn't trying hard enough. I understand life or death situations where the person is too obese to exercise, but people who are perfectly capable of exercising and dieting on their own--I tend to think they're looking for an easy out. I wonder if people who get this surgery realize that the surgery isn't a quick fix, that without changing their lifestyle they can't make long term changes in their weight and health. So I'm curious to hear what everyone else thinks about weight loss surgery.

The short answer is that I agree with you.
I
I have a friend who had weight loss surgery 5+ years ago.
I respectfully disagree that WL surgery is a quick fix.
I felt the way most of you do until recently.
