Entering P2

Well, I am entering Phase 2 officially. I've been struggling with Phase 1 for about a month now -- I would have a few good days, followed by cheats. It was hard for me! So, I am hoping to have better luck here. I don't want to end up on that downward spiral where I keep attempting P1, then end of giving in b/c it's too restrictive, then end up off the diet entirely.
For breakfast, I had 1 cup plain low fat yogurt (one of my usual P1 breakfast) & 2 of those small, whole wheat, low-carb pitas (50 cal each) with light butter & splenda sprinkled on top. I am going to eat P1 foods for the rest of the day -- a latte for a snack, a salad w/chicken for lunch, nuts for a snack, then a meat & a veggie for dinner, followed by an NSA fudgicle. What do you think? Any feedback would be much appreciated. :)
I am fine with losing weight slowly, but I would like to average 1-2 pounds per week. I am also going to watch my calories (1500-1600 max) and get cardio each day & weights 2-3 times per week.
Thanks for listening!

Welcome to P2 Christine!
First, I have a wedding to attend this Saturday and I was wondering how people deal with events like this. I would like to have some wine, and I just have no idea what to do about the food. Do you avoid the cake and non-SBD friendly foods entirely? Do you take a "break" for the event? What is the best strategy?
Second, I was thinking of slowly adding in food. I miss apples most of all, so I was thinking of eating an apple each day for the first week. Does that sound appropriate?
Thanks.

There are different strategies for different people, according to the importance of their participation in the event and the food there,
Thanks for checking on those foods, Maggie! I really appreciate it -- that's one major way this board keeps me honest. :) The butter is light "I can't believe it's not butter" spread. I will check on the trans-fats, to be honest, I hadn't even been thinking about that. I just thought b/c it was low-fat in general it was ok. And the latte I made myself, with skim milk and splenda -- yummy. :)
I just went to an office birthday party and avoided the orange juice and yummy cake. :) I was really having trouble with those parties. I work in a huge office and it's someone's bday/retirement/engagement party every week!! And I am new here, and I never felt comfortable saying "no" to the food while everyone else was eating. Isn't that ridiculous?? I always hated myself afterwards, b/c I'd be on P1 and would have a piece of chocolate cake that I wasn't even craving just b/c everyone else was and I thought I would look weird. And I realized today that no one cares!!! I just said no thanks to the cake, no explanation required. Heheh -- I know that this isn't rocket science, but it was a huge discovery for me. :) I am going out tonite w/friends who I haven't seen in a while and I'll have to remember this -- no one will care if I just sip a glass of wine while they all drink beers and sugary cocktails.

Christine,
Congratulations on resisting that cake.
Thank you SOOOO MUCH Maggie for helping answer her questions.
I feel guilty because yesterday my co-worker brought some spice cake to work (she knows I prefer healthy food options, but she did it anyway) and it was specifically for my and my boss's belated September birthday celebration.
Suz,
Try not to get yourself down over a small piece of cake.
Welcome to Phase 2!
