I'm going to have to post that bread for the official South Beach site's nutritionist has to say about that... because the Somersweet stuff is making me see red flags, even though the fiber is all there.

I don't remember the minimum number for fiber exactly but I questioned if was truly all there.

Thanks - I look forward to finding out! Yes, for some reason I watch HSN and Suzanne Somers all the time and wonder if some of her food is "legal". Thanks again!

At a quick glance, this is what I look for in bread (and someone correct me if I'm wrong): 2+ grams of fiber and less than 2 grams of sugar per slice.

I also try to choose breads that are 100 calories or less per slice. Watch when reading labels because some breads list serving sizes as 1 slice, and some as 2 slices. Reading bread labels is very eye opening. They vary from 70-200+ calories per slice, and the ingredients are all over the map. I buy breads that don't have any hydrogenated oils or high fructose corn syrup. Needless to say, I spend longer in the bread aisle than almost any other... and I don't even eat all that much of it! LOL

If I absolutely can't find what I need, then I stick with the low carb breads like Aunt Millies, but they are not as good in any way.

Hi lfbennett,

The basic guidelines for a good SBD bread is 3g fiber or more per serving, and that the product contain whole-grain flour, only.
