Good Morning!

I still want to respond to all of your posts yesterday but thought I'd better get the ball rolling on this Hump Day.  It's supposed to get to around 44 degrees here today.  Murphy's Law....I washed my car last night and now there's going to be tons of melted dirty snow in the streets to dirty up my car again in not time! LOL!

How are you doing today?  Will you be doing some exercise?  I am determined to do some when I get home.  I am also vowing to do better on drinking water today.

I was working on the website a little more last night.  I hope to finish it up soon.   I love seeing everyone's sites and beautiful photos! :-)

I hope you all have a fabulous day!

Breakfast:  (I know I need to get up earlier and make eggs & canadian bacon....) The "usual" yogurt with Kashi cereal mixed, coffee.

Forgot to bring snack

Lunch:  salad with grilled chicken

Snack:  PB yogurt  (It's just sooo good!)

Dinner:  Unsure at the moment....I will pick a recipe from my SB Cookbook.

Snack:  sf ff pudding

((((Hugs to everyone!))))

Hi Suzy,

I lost ten on the first phase. That puts me at 164 and I'm looking for 145 - 150, so I guess in the 15-20 pound range. I'll see the closer I get.

I work at home part-time doing medical transcription (my degree is in health information management, AKA medical records :).

It's wonderful to do away with the parking pass, commute time, dry cleaning and day care bills. It can get kind of lonesome at home all the time, but with these message boards I feel like I'm keeping up with a hundred good pals every day anyway, LOL.

Of course, there's no one standing here with a whip so I have to force myself to work as we only get paid for production (no work, no paycheck). Also, I'm a contract or statutory employee so I don't have health insurance or paid time off (DH has insurance, and I make my own schedule so I don't really need PTO anyway).

I'd rather win the lottery and NOT WORK, but since we have no lottery in North Carolina that obviously won't be happening! :)

Have a great afternoon!

Thanks for starting the daily thread, Suzy! Hope you ahve a good warm day!

Sara - How exciting that you're so close to your BIG mini-goal! That first step out of the 200's is SO exciting! I think that was probably my happiest weight loss moment thus far! It even beats out my 50# accomplishment I think. :) For me, 5 lbs per month has been good for the mini-goals. It is just challenging enough to keep me honest, but not so challenging that it feels impossible. What I have been doing is estimating 5 lbs a month, and then setting my next mini goal for the 15 lb mark. For example, when you get to 199, your next goal could be 185 by April 15 (I think that right??). For me it's been important to have a timeline in mind along with the number.

Shan - OMG, that is TOO funny about your DD! She sounds like quite a character. My kids love Rachel Ray, too. I wonder what it is about her? Probably because she's so darn perky.

Carol - hope you feel better today! Your menu sounds awesome. Can I come eat at your house? :) I make my PB yogurt by scooping one spoonful of peanut butter into a bowl and sprinkling it with a packet of SPlenda. Then I add 1 tbl of yogurt and mix til smooth. Then I add the rest of the yogurt. Sometimes I add some extra nuts or a sliced banana or strawberries to it. It'd be a perfect breakfast, but I like it so much that I save it for dessert.

Margaret - what a great idea to do an exercise video with the kids. I've never thought of that, and I'm sure my kids would love it! I don't know if I'd get in the full proper workout with my little ones goofing around, but it would be better than nothing.

Shar - stick with it, and not only will you get into those 10s but you won't even feel like you're dieting. You can do it! :)

Scully - Take it easy! I hope you feel better soon. Your menu sounds great, too. I love reading all the differnt ideas for foods. Helps me break out of my rut. What's this dessert you're talking about? Sounds good! And I'm totally with you on the cheese. I do the same thing -- use 1/4 or 1/2 of GOOD real cheese instead of more of the LF kind. Blech.

Maryann - your salmon sounds delicious. COuld you share the recipe?

Not sure if I got everyone in there, but the kiddos are starting to run wild so I need to run interference!

Really quick, here's my unfinished menu:

B: egg and veggie scramble w/ham; coffee w/milk
S: none
L: tuna w/celery and onions, wrapped in WW tortilla w/ a bit of cheese. Oh and about 1/2 of the rest of the kids' quesadilla. Oops.
S: not sure, since I'll be out and about
D: probably left over beef soup from last night
S: PB yogurt, of course! ;)

Hi Scully!

I do go through these phases, sometimes I just leave Food Network on in the background all day long and peek in when I see them doing something interesting :)

I think the best tips I've picked up from there are pretty similar to yours...definitely the quality of ingredients counts! I also pay close attention to spice combinations because that's something I like to try out on my own and it helps to get other people's ideas.

I really like the Calorie Commando show, he has some great tips for cutting out fat and you can apply the same principles to cutting sugar...like how you were saying about a small amount of full-fat cheese instead of a large amount of the low-fat stuff (can't stand low-fat cheese either, I don't buy it!) and then you can compensate with spices or lower-cal versions of another ingredient.

I've actually found that a surprising number of the 30-Minute Meals are either already SBD-friendly or easily adapted...I have one of her cookbooks now, and it's been really easy to adapt the recipes to SBD. A little ww pasta here, Parmesan instead of breadcrumbs there, and you're set. I can't do Emeril or Mario Batali stuff (I've seen some of Mario's menus that have five or six different kinds of meat, all cooked with skin and butter and then pasta, too much!)

We're trying out a 30-Minute Meal tonight (the curry turkey burgers), I don't actually have to adapt the recipe at all, which is great!

Hi Suzy!

The apartment is definitely frustrating me...I just love the building itself (it's a converted hat factory, so I've got wonderful high ceilings and huge windows...which doesn't help the heat problem, lol, but at least I don't feel like I live in a box), but I don't think I'll stay past the end of my lease unfortunately :-(

Munchkin definitely likes to cook...she always wants to help me, and she'll at least try anything that she helps make, it's just getting her to finish anything she knows has vegetables in it that's the problem! I am hoping that if she continues to help me cook, I can start teaching her how to experiment and make veggies the way SHE likes them!

The Greek restaurant was fabulous, I was so glad we went. They had wild rice in the chicken soup, so I had some of that, and they substituted this wonderfully grainy whole wheat bread for my grilled chicken sandwich on request. The sandwich was piled high with grilled veggies, so that was good too. I did stray on purpose after lunch though, lol, I had to have a piece of baklava, it's been a loooooooong time since I've been to a really good Greek restaurant. It was totally worth it, and if it shows up on the scale tomorrow it'll be worth another day of P1 ;-)

I watched it, I love those first few shows! I'll be watching again tonight, hehehe.

I bet Toni Braxton was pretty unhappy with her however-he's-related for mentioning her as a relative and then butchering her songs, lol ;-)
