Snack:  PB yogurt

Dinner:  grilled chicken and green beans, salad, milk

Snack: fudgesicle

I hope everyone is feeling better. :-)

Wow, that is a lot of celebrating! I'm afraid by my second party I would have been giving in to temptation. If all you did was indulge a bit on wine then you did great!

Hope the Chicken Tortilla Soup is good. Do you use whole wheat tortilla's for that?

Way to go on the exercising too! You are an inspiration. :o)

Don't you hate what the weekends do to the diet? I'm great all week and then on the weekend's things slowly start to fall apart. Scales aren't my friend either as they always seem to blow little indulgences way out of proportion. Drink up on that water and I hope this week is better for you!! :o)

Hey, maybe this would be a good time to try out some new SBD friendly recipes? I can imagine that it is hard to stay focused on meal planning when you are snowed in but your menu for today sounds great! Hope you guys can get out and about soon!!

Hi Carol:

Yes, I highly recommend the Eddings books! They're great light reading, total escapism and very funny :-)

The full series is actually three mini-series: The Belgariad, the Mallorean, and two sequel books that tie everything in.

The first one in the Belgariad (which is the first overall) is called "Pawn of Prophecy"...I got all twelve books off Half.com in decent shape for less than $20 inclusive ;-) If you ever want a full list, let me know and I'll send it to you!

Have you read the Wheel of Time books?

Hey Girls,

I am late checking in today. I am married to a Techie who has really been hogging the lap top. So, still getting over my cold, I have been spending quite a bit of time curling up with some really good books. :) I only have a minute, so here is my day.......

B: Veggie Quiche
S: SBD Muffin and Chai
L: Roasted Chick Peas and 1/2 a slice of Pizza (PMS kind of won today)
S: Celery w/ Chipotle Hummus
D: Taco Soup

Keep warm everyone...........

Shan,
Saw this in your post:

D: Chicken Lentil Barley soup, I might make some whole wheat biscuits, and salads.

I was wondering how you make your whole wheat biscuits. What do you use for the shortening that is called for in the biscuit recipes. I used to make home made biscuits a lot before SBD but never make them now. If you have a good recipe I would love to try it. Thanks,
Pam

Hi Pam:

I didn't actually have time to make the biscuits last night...thanks to the snow it took us over an hour to make the seven-minute drive home from work! So I'm going from memory here...

The shortening that I use is made from canola oil instead of vegetable oil...I think it's actually a Crisco brand, but I'm not positive. I'll caution you that it's not the greatest thing for strict South Beach (I seem to remember noticing that there are Beach-unfriendly additives), but I didn't like how the biscuits turned out with butter substitute so I compromised. I figure that using whole wheat flour and other ingredients that I know are whole and natural and using one that might not be the greatest, is still a better choice for me overall than buying biscuits that have all kinds of other stuff in them.

I'll make them again soon and post the recipe once I refresh my memory!
