Typical Weight Loss at P2 very Frustrat!

Hi Everyone.

I stayed on Phase 1 for 3 wks and lost 16 pds. Yes I was over the moon. I never cheated. Nothing. Then, Week 4 I went into P2 and was great all week and lost 2 pds. Thats it. I know thats normal. But to eat so good all week and only lose 1-2 pds a week? Its just hard knowing I could GAIN those 2pds in a matter of one evening!!!

Anyone feel the same?

Just venting & its just biology I know,

Beth

Hi Beth -

No I don't feel the same - the healthy way to lose weight is 1-2 pounds per week. I'm thrilled with 2 pounds - I usually lose 1/2 pound, sometimes nothing - but it's better than gaining.

Beth, I know we'd all like to just melt away those extra pounds, but that's not the healthy way to go. Slow & steady wins the race.

Beth,

I agree with you!! I know in my head that 1-2 pounds a week is safe, normal, healthy...all of that. But, I went to a buffet not to long ago and put on 1.5 pounds in a day!! On in a few hours and it could take 2 weeks to lose! If at all posible, I would definitely do the magic wand variety of weightloss! But, i'm still sticking to it and tryign to enjoy those 1 to 2 pounds when they come off.

Beth be happy for the loss you are seeing. 16lbs in 3wks wow!!! I did phase one for two weeks and lost 7lbs. I've already done one week of phase two and no loss yet. I would be jumping for joy if that scale went down. Try and keep positive. The key to lifelong weight loss is slow and steady. Have you been exercising as well? perhaps you could take your exercise up a notch to get things moving a bit more. Congratulations on what you've lost so far and keep up the good work. Suzanne

Yeah, it would be nice if we could lose faster, have it stay off and be healthy. But since slower is healthier, that's what we are stuck with I guess! I really feel a little "cheated" sometimes by having to lose slowly as I put on all my weight very quickly (due to meds/hormones, etc. I gained 40 lbs in 5 months) That averages to two pounds a week - and I know I won't lose two pounds every week, so it will take me longer to take the weight off than it did to put on.

The one thing that has helped me deal with feeling cheated about how long the weight will take to come off is that I am trying not to just think about weight/numbers/looks, etc. I am trying to look at my overall health. I want to be around a long time to see my kids grow up and get married, run around and play with my grandkids, etc. Every day that I eat healthier I am feel like I am keeping my heart healthier, reducing my risks of heart problems or developing diabetes, lowering my cholesterol, etc. I had to make this way of eating more about being healthier for my children's sake than for vanity.

As far as losing two pounds at the beginning of phase 2 - I'd celebrate!! I was one of the unlucky ones who GAINED last week (my first week on phase 2) I lost 8 lbs in phase one, gained two back - now I'm just about back to my end of phase 1 weight. Its been almost 2 weeks since I've seen the scale go down. I have not cheated even ONCE since starting SBD, not one single little bite of anything illegal - THAT is frustrating! So I've been trying hard to look for "non scale" successes. The other day my ds (7) and I were out playing basketball in our front yard. The other neighborhood kids came over and started playing too (8-12 yr olds) I was actually able to keep up with them - which I wouldn't have been able to do a month ago! One boy said to my son "wow, your mom is so cool, my mom wouldn't be able to run around and play basketball with me that like" (his mom is quite over weight) So the numbers didn't move this week, but that comment is what is keeping me going right now!
