I NEED SUPPORT!

I am on week 2 of phase 2 SBD. I ended two weeks of phase one with a 10 pound loss. I slowly added one fruit carb some days during the start of phase 2. I also have started walking/some jogging - doing about 3 miles of walking 3-4x week. I have gained one pound during phase 2 and the scale is not moving.I started at 170lbs and
currently weigh 161. I want to weigh 120.
HELP!

I love the message boards, but I need a buddy and support.

Thanks,
Teresa

Hi Teresa!

I don't know anything about the "facts" in this, I'm so glad the CL's here know absolutely everything there is and then some so I'm sure they'll give you some great answers!

However I can totally relate to your feelings and your frustration. I lost 9 lbs on P1, then I had some days of messing up everything, started P2, and about 10 days after ending P1 I had gained 6 lbs!!!! By strictly sticking to P2 again I managed to stop the gaining, and I've lost 3 lbs again so I think I'm back on track.

Are you eating enough? If I don't eat enough it's amazing how my body will just refuse to lose a calorie! Also, I think exercise is the key. No matter how "good" I am dietwise I just don't lose weight if I don't exercise. Adding more muscle to your body helps the metabolism speed up a lot.

It sounds like we our situation is pretty similar, I started at 166 and would love to be 120 :D but a more realistic goal for me is 130-135, I'm 5'9" and have cellulite so I'll look awful if I'm too skinny :D hee hee!

Anyways - hang in there!!!! We can make a deal - let's try to get at least half an hours exercise 3 times by Sunday, and maybe then we'll both get the losing started again?

Best of luck!!!

Silve,

Thanks for the encouragement. I probably am not eating enough. It's funny, now that the cravings are gone for the sweets- I am not that hungry. I am also not getting enough dairy in. I will take you up on the challenge of exercising. I am glad to know I am not alone here. Thanks for the support and keep me posted on your progress.

Thanks,
Teresa

Yeah, the first days after P1 I wasn't eating enough either. And then my dad cam to visit, and I went to visit my sister - and we're a FOOD family. Somehow I ended up eating chocolate chip cookies, cookiedough, tacos - not good!

These last days when I've actually lost weight again I've made sure to eat enough, actually rather eating more than I necessarily need than not eating enough.

That's really great though that your cravings are gone!! I think you'll do just fine and have no problem losing weight once you just find your "rhythm" - how much you need to eat and exercise and things like that. Making drastic changes to eating habits we've had for years does take some time for our bodies to get used to, I think.

Hi Teresa,

Not eating enough can definitely slow your metabolism down significantly, and is known to the be the cause of plateaus (stopping weight loss, sometimes even gaining a little).

Thanks for the Q & A and the words of encouragement. I will hang in there and follow the advise of eating at least every four hours with the minimum of veggie and dairy requirements. I really think my body is in shock from the physical exercise. It is not used to this at all. HA! Thanks again

I think my body is confused. Change in eating habits and exercise on a regular basis are new for me. I think it is still trying to decide what is going on. HA! You hang in there as well and we will do this together.

Hi - just thought I'd share that I was one of the unlucky ones who gained when I started Phase 2. I started at 181, lost 8 lbs in phase 1. Then the first week in phase 2 I gained 2 lbs back! I was devestated to say the least. I didn't cheat - not even one single little bite of anything illegal, I was excercising faithfully 60 minues every day, I only added one grain/fruit serving, was watching my nuts/cheese/fats, etc. But I still gained...but then the next week I lost the two I gained, the next week 1 more, and this week so far 2 lbs! So it WILL start coming back off again as long as you don't give up! I was really close to giving up though - I had started thinking *I* just can't lose weight, but now I am pretty happy to be up to a total of 11 lbs lost in 5 weeks!
All I did differently when I started losing again was to really vary my workouts even more. I was doing the same aerobics 3-4 days and the same pilates workout the other days. I got some new tapes and switched to doing something different each day. Don't know if that helped, but now I like doing a totally different workout everyday, keeps it from getting boring and its easier for me to stick with!

Good luck and hang in here!

I completely understand your frustration. I'm on, i think week three of phase two and not a single pound lost. Talk about frustrating. I had only added in maybe two slices of 12grain bread to my daily intake and that's it for the carbs. I workout 5-6times a week for around 1-1.5hrsdaily and nothing. I was so frustrated and finally ended up totally blowing it the last two days. I've been under a great deal of stress and the thought of the scale not moving was just too much for me and i strayed of program BIG time. My cravings are off the wall now, and i feel so mad at myself. I know i should go back to phase one but the thought of going through all that and not seeing weight loss after, once i go back to phase two seems like alot of work for nothing. I'm so desperate right now, I would've thought i would have seen at least something happening on the scale by now. GEESH!! Suzanne

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I will try to vary workout with some tapes and the walking/jogging.

DONT'T GIVE UP! If I have received a common thread of responses, it is to keep going. I will be here for you to vent and to encourage you. I am no expert on what phase you should do, but I'm sure others will advise you. Hang in there and we can do this together. I think we should throw the scales out. Do you feel better or notice a change in the way the clothes fit? I know I do! Keep trying.
