Good Morning!

How was your weekend?  Did anyone watch the Academy Awards last night?  My dh was grumbling because we tried watching it on the high definition channel and they totally botched up the sound.  Various people's voices cut out.  Oh well....

I managed to get my kitten Gracie to eat a little.  Still not as much as she needs to eat by a long shot.  I will see what the vet says on Wednesday when I take her back in.   I am also trying to arrange an appt with a vet an hour's drive away who does dental work on exotics so I can maybe get a second opinion on Gandalf my chinchilla and see if he needs a tooth pulled.  He continues to lose weight so I'm worried.  I need to solve his problem so he'll eat again.

Some good news.   Last August I helped resuce a Sheltie who needed a good home.  (The dog went first class by being flown in a private small plane up to Minneapolis where the Sheltie Rescue was located and she found a home within a week).  They kept my name on the list and they contacted me last week saying another family had to give up their 2 year old Sheltie due to financial problems and they were planning on transporting the dog up to MN.  I told them I thought it would be less stressful for the dog if I could find him a home here in Nebraska.  I asked a colleague of mine at the college I work at if she knew anyone since she had Shelties.  She told her co-worker, a drafting instructor, about Riley (the dog) and long story short....he met the owners Friday at a park and ended up adopting Riley on the spot!  He already had a 10 year old Sheltie and Riley got along immediately with him, as well as the instructor's 2 teenage kids who loves throwing a tennis ball that Riley would fetch for them.  I just love happy endings! :-)

Today I'm starting (for sure!) my exercise routine.  I want to walk and start doing my weight training again.  Wish me luck! ;-)

Breakfast:  yogurt & Kashi cereal, coffee

Snack:  Mozz stick

Lunch:  ww tortilla with grilled chicken and sauteed veggies

Snack: apple & lite LC cheese

Dinner:  Maybe fish & veggies

Snack:  fudgesicle

Have a great day everyone!

I took my weekly Monday morning stats as usual, but not so good news. I didn't lose any more since my last Monday morning weigh-in. I may have over done it this weekend, because my husband and I ate out twice. But I tried to keep everything SBD friendly, but sometimes it's pretty hard to do. We went out Saturday afternoon and I ordered the grilled cod, salad w/ranch dressing, cottage cheese(they didn't have low-fat), and a diet coke. I replaced the potato with the cottage cheese, and the cod was not grilled like I ordered, but was baked in butter. I passed on the croutons and garlic toast, too.

Then Sunday, after shopping, DH and I went to Ponderosa for lunch....bad mistake! I found very little SBD friendly foods on the buffet. I got another salad (w/cucumbers, tomato, chopped eggs, pinch of cheddar cheese, garbanzo beans and ranch dressing), chunks of cantaloupe, a few grapes. My main order was a 6 oz sirloin and plain grilled shrimp. Washed it all down with a diet pepsi. I don't think I did too bad, but not real sure how the grilled foods were prepared.

So here are my stats for today:

Weight= 256
BP= 114/63 (before meds)
Pulse= 65
Blood Glucose(fasting) 132

Today's menu plan:

B~ 2 strips turkey bacon
scrambled (egg beaters) eggs w/ pinch of l.f.cheddar cheese
1 slice low-carb bread w/Fleichman's olive oil spread
5.5 oz. V8 juice
8 oz water
1 cup coffee
S~ BlueBunny Lite85 vanilla creme yogurt, 9 oz. bottle of water
L~ Cup of Homemade Chicken noodle soup "Broth"
small side salad w/garbanzo beans & Carb Well ranch dressing
8 oz. 1%milk
S~ celery w/pb
D~ 4-5 oz grilled salmon fillet
spinach
perfection salad w/dollop of Hellman's mayo
8 oz. 1% milk
S~ S.F fudgesicle

Water through out the day.

I am just here from phase 1- I lost 4 pounds which was less than I had hoped, but OK and I think my diet was fairly good before which may be why. I am planning to add 3 things today which may not be wise, but I have been missing them and will go back to 1 or 2 tomorrow. I had high fiber cereal for breakfast and plan to have a small glass of wine and ww pasta with spaghetti (marinara and very lean hamburger and mushrooms and peppers). I also plan to have a big salad with some Kraft SB friendly ranch so I won't be tempted to go crazy with the pasta.

Oh, I'm doing the treadmill 10 minutes too along with a 10 minute stetch band strength workout I got in a magazine. Luckily I'm home on a snow day (I do want Spring, but a home day on Monday is also good) so I have time to plan and excercise.

Hey everyone,

Had a great weekend. Had a surprise birthday party for DH on Saturday. DH's best friend from Atlanta came up for another surprise on Friday night. And yesterday, we had brunch with my best friend who came up for the party.

Overall, ate fairly well. Jenn from Atlanta, is in P2 too, so had dinner at home Friday night. Saturday, I had it catered with Mexican food. I dipped one single chip into the chile con queso. Had a cheese enchilada and a beef taco in a hard shell. I also had a piece of the most delicious chocolate mousse cake I have ever tasted. Not too bad considering what was around and what I would have eaten pre-SBD.

Sunday we went to Macaroni Grill for brunch. I had one bite of bread dipped in olive oil. A petite fillet with cheese on it and some grilled asparagus and a caesar salad.

The weekend was just great.

Today so far, doing well. Not looking forward to the 8 inches of snow predicted for tonight, but at least my company said we could wear jeans tomorrow.

B - 12 grain toast, SF FF yogurt, milk, V8

S - pistachios

L - A most delicious taco salad made with LOs from the party. (lettuce, taco meat, cheese, guac, sour cream and salad).

S - apple with LC cheese

D - taco meatballs with a salad, some guac, sour cream. Maybe some black beans, if I think of it.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Suzy,

I recognize the Sheltie story from a Pets board. I thought I knew you from somewhere. That is fabulous that you found another one a home.

Good luck with Gracie and Gandalf. It is always so tough when they aren't feeling well.
