Good Morning!

How was your weekend?  Did anyone watch the Academy Awards last night?  My dh was grumbling because we tried watching it on the high definition channel and they totally botched up the sound.  Various people's voices cut out.  Oh well....

I managed to get my kitten Gracie to eat a little.  Still not as much as she needs to eat by a long shot.  I will see what the vet says on Wednesday when I take her back in.   I am also trying to arrange an appt with a vet an hour's drive away who does dental work on exotics so I can maybe get a second opinion on Gandalf my chinchilla and see if he needs a tooth pulled.  He continues to lose weight so I'm worried.  I need to solve his problem so he'll eat again.

Some good news.   Last August I helped resuce a Sheltie who needed a good home.  (The dog went first class by being flown in a private small plane up to Minneapolis where the Sheltie Rescue was located and she found a home within a week).  They kept my name on the list and they contacted me last week saying another family had to give up their 2 year old Sheltie due to financial problems and they were planning on transporting the dog up to MN.  I told them I thought it would be less stressful for the dog if I could find him a home here in Nebraska.  I asked a colleague of mine at the college I work at if she knew anyone since she had Shelties.  She told her co-worker, a drafting instructor, about Riley (the dog) and long story short....he met the owners Friday at a park and ended up adopting Riley on the spot!  He already had a 10 year old Sheltie and Riley got along immediately with him, as well as the instructor's 2 teenage kids who loves throwing a tennis ball that Riley would fetch for them.  I just love happy endings! :-)

Today I'm starting (for sure!) my exercise routine.  I want to walk and start doing my weight training again.  Wish me luck! ;-)

Breakfast:  yogurt & Kashi cereal, coffee

Snack:  Mozz stick

Lunch:  ww tortilla with grilled chicken and sauteed veggies

Snack: apple & lite LC cheese

Dinner:  Maybe fish & veggies

Snack:  fudgesicle

Have a great day everyone!

Hello all!

This is a travel week for me, my first since re-dedicating in January :-) I decided before I left to try something new to me...during those times when the SBD-guaranteed-friendly selections just aren't available (such as yesterday when I ended up being forced to check the carry-on bag containing the snacks I packed!), I'm going with the closest available vegetarian option, which I'm hoping is saving enough fat calories to make up for some additional carbs.

I did well with sticking to vegetarian food today, but had three slip-ups with bad carbs :-( I think a lot of it has to do with being absolutely starving all day long because A) I probably had less than 1000 calories total on Sunday due to being stuck in circling airplanes most of the day and B) jet lage has apparently convinced my body that I am arriving at every meal three hours late.

B: Fresh fruit, and two small slices of nut bread (I know the nut bread is not allowed, but the only fruit out were melons and I'm not a huge fan)

S: More of the fruit

L: Large garden salad, half of an egg sandwich (1 slice whole grain bread) with cheese; illegal cookies (they just were too soft and gooey to pass up)

S: Veggie crudite, a couple more slices of fruit, and then I had a KitKat because I was having trouble keeping my eyes open and caffeine wasn't helping (bad, I know)

D: Grilled veggie melt on whole grain rye; Fresh fruit slices

So hopefully tomorrow things will start evening out a little more. I couldn't fit my yoga mat in my luggage, but I did bring the DVD's and will attempt to do them sans mat. I'm also going to drag my butt out of bed earlier and get a real breakfast instead of waiting for the carb-fest buffet...

Hope everyone's week is going well, I'll try to check in again tomorrow night!

Thanks Suzy:

Its been a rough week, sorry for whinning, confiend to the house with the weather & back problems. Thank Heavens,my back is getting better, only a little twix now & than. Couldn't exercise for the whole week ,which brought me back to a stall again. The Weather sucks!! also. They predicted rain for last night, and I was so happy that the snow was finally going to melt, but I guess Mother Nature had different plans and we got another 1 foot of snow on top of what we had with the Blizzard of "05.So its back to cabin fever again lol. Hope every thing is fine at your end. Take care of the furbabys.Hugs Maryann
