Phase 2 ??

Ok so I start Phase 2 next week and I want to make sure I'm doing it right this time. So I should have 1 fruit serving and 1 starch serving and increase gradually right? How gradually? Should I have one of each a day for like a week and then 2 a day for a week and so on? Or should it be faster or slower than that? Last time I think that's what my problem was I added too many carbs or I added them fast. Thanks!
