Rethinking my weekends

I had gotten very good about not deviating from my diet on the weekends but over the past month I have been a complete disaster. I have been "getting away with it" because I still manage to keep my weight around 123 but I just feel so gross over the weekends so I want to make a change. Basically the problem stems from having tons of social events where I can't control the food and so I just let myself go. I think it would be alright to get a little off the diet at these events but stick to it the rest of the weekend, but I seem to figure if one meal goes, they all go. So I need to start thinking harder about how to make a serious change.

I remember reading somewhere on here recently that if you think of it more as a treat than a cheat it might help. Cheats make you feel guilty....whereas you know that the function is coming up. You can just say that if you are good all the rest of these meals that you can treat yourself at these functions.

That is what I have had to do. It really does feel better to have a treat than a cheat.

Good luck.

Hi v,

You struggled with staying strict over the weekend once before and were successful.

I know what you mean - I have been there too. The best defense that I have found is to make sure that you plan ahead. Going into the weekend, have healthy snacks and meals on hand and be sure to drink plenty of water. If you try to stick to your weekday routines with water and snacking, you may have more willpower at social events.

Good luck,

Karen :)

Thanks for all the support! I do know I can do it. This past weekend was bad. I was visiting relatives who are offended if you don't eat their food so I did my best to avoid certain things, but there was lots of "treats," especially on Easter Sunday. This weekend I have a birthday party to attend on Sat. and have already been told that Italian food (salad, but also pasta) has been ordered and there will be birthday cake. I know that I can't avoid the food entirely because that would be rude, but I will plan ahead and eat healthy all day in preparation and limit myself to a small portion of pasta and cake. I know the rest of my weekend can be entirely SBD-friendly!
