Kashi Granola Bars?
| Sun, 04-03-2005 - 12:35pm |
Before starting South Beach I was trying to cut back on refined sugars anyway and stumbled upon Kashi Chewy Granola Bars - definitely better for you than regular ones, but I don't know if they're Phase 2 friendly.
First five ingredients: Kashi Seven whole grains and sesame blend (whole: hard red winter wheat, oats, rye, triticale, barley, long grain brown rice, buckwheat, sesame seeds), brown rice syrup, peanuts, natural peanut butter, chicory root fiber.....

I really hope they're OK because they're tasty, filling, and not too sweet.
Thanks!

You are in luck.
Here's a more thorough response:
Hello,
Bars should be used as a safety net when we are unable to make a meal or snack. Whole foods are always the best choice. The majority of your nutrient intake should not come from these type of bars. How much you use these bars is a personal decision. You'll need to decide what is best for you.
Thank you!

Hi!
These Kashi bars meet our guidelines since they contain no trans fats and no high fructose corn syrup. They would be fine to have in Phase 2 as a snack or breakfast option. If you choose to use this bar for breakfast, please include a low- fat dairy serving. One bar counts as one starch serving.
Please keep in mind that whole foods are always the best choice. When you do not have the time to prepare breakfast, you can now utilize these granola cereal bars as a safety net. How often you use these foods is a personal choice.
Thank you!
