I was so bad last night and...

I had the worst munchies yesterday. I broke down and had frozen pizza with the family last night and ate waaay too much of it. I feel terrible this morning and last night. I even skipped my sweet treat last night. Also, I had a question. It seemed that I had alot of cravings yesterday. Is this because I've reintroduced some carbs? I've only been having a cup of wheat chex w/ff milk in the morning and a cup of strawberries for my afternoon snack. Should I cut one out or will the cravings cut back down in a couple of days? Is this normal. Except for the pizza, I haven't eaten anything I'm not supposed to but I'm afraid that I've screwed myself up now. Thanks for reading

ya know, I think one day of a slip on snacking isnt gonna hurt ya, wont help, but wont hurt.
best thing is to gear your mind back to what you know you need to do.

I agree, just go ahead and jump back on the SB wagon. I posted last week that I had some strawberries in a smoothie for breakfast, and was just STARVING all day. I really went overboard with the snacking that day, nothing illegal, just alot more than usual. I decided no fruit until my late afternoon snack, at the earliest. I think I have also read here that some people get cravings from cereal. Even when it's a legal cereal, for some people, it just causes the "hungries". And, finally, I get terrible munchies for a couple of days before TOM starts, could that be an issue for you?

Good Luck!

Don't beat yourself up about it. Just start fresh the next day. Sometimes when you indulge in a non SBD food it will make you feel hungry for the next day or two. My strategy is to eat by the clock on those days -- always including inbetween meal snacks -- and ignore my cravings. I can have will power for ONE day and that's it! LOL.

There are two things that stand out to me, actually three. Is wheatchex SBD approved? For both the cereal and the strawberries you should try and have a carb-competitor with them. Protein, fat, fiber, or acid. For example, have a hard boiled egg with your cereal. Or a cheese stick along with your berries. I sometimes have problems with fruit, but very rarely with strawberries. I'm guessing it was the cereal.

The third thing is were you really hungry when you had the pizza? Next time maybe you could allow yourself 1 slice, but wait until after you've had a salad or veggie first. And even better, wait til the rest of the pizza is gone and save your slice for when you don't even have the option of overindulging! LOL

You'll be fine! :)

Thanks for all the encouraging words. I'm feeling much better now and don't have the munchies. Except for the pizza, I was okay yesterday. I had the munchies but didn't actually have more than my alotted snacks. I didn't "stuff" myself with the pizza but just felt really bad about it. BTW, according to the new cereal guidelines, Wheat Chex is okay. I took the guidelines with me to the store and read all the boxes. Was very excited that this one is allowed. It has 5g of fiber and 5 sugars so I'm fairly certain it is still okay. Maybe I'll try it without Splenda tomorrow.
Thanks again.

Cristy:

Do not worry about one bad day. Anyone who has been on this more than a couple of months has had a bad day. It is better not to have them, but it is okay to have a bad day as long as they are few and far between.

I try to eat all my fruit for dessert at meals. That seems to keep any craving back lash down. If I have a slice or two of pizza (my wife and kids drag me to Pizza the Hut {sorry, always thought it rhymes with Jabba the Hut} about twice a month.) I always start with a big salad. I make sure it has a lot of broccoli and green peppers, and anything else hard and crunchy, before I have my pizza. If I have just one slice I am normally okay, assuming I have a normal eating week. If I add a couple of tacos or sandwiches (even on whole wheat) I will either gain or not loose any weight.

I also know that if I am having a case of the munchies (weekends are hard for me - never realized how much I snacked until I gave it up.) I make sure I munch on SB foods; like celery, almonds, cheese, maybe even a little bit of chicken. I figure better to eat a little more of good food, than to eat some junk food.

Hang in there and do not beat yourself up. If you keep going forward, you will get there!
