Meal Replacement Bars

We bought one of these this weekend, because we had a coupon. I thought it would be handy for a quick breakfast, but it doesn't say anywhere on the package whether to count a bread, or a dairy, or a fruit, or anything. Are these okay for an occasional breakfast replacement, and if so, what do I need to count?

Thanks,

Lora

Here's the answer from the official South Beach nutritionist:

Hello,
You can reintroduced the bars in phase 2. They can be utilized as a breakfast option or a snack. You should count these bars as one starch serving. We also encourage using low fat milk or yogurt, fruit or vegetable sticks with a bar to compliment the bar.
Please be aware convenience foods should be used as a safety net when you are unable to make whole foods. These should not be used as your main source of nutrients.

Be healthy!
