Eating when not "hungry"
| Wed, 04-27-2005 - 6:51pm |
I am having a hard time with this whole eating when not hungry thing. Should I just go by the clock when I have my snacks? I found if I wait until I feel HUNGRY (you know the weird feeling you get in your stomach) then I eat and do not control how much because I seem so hungry. I can't figure out when to feed my body.

Aimee,
In phase 2 snacks are optional.
Cathy,
I don't skip meals but by the end of the day I am starving and I have already had my snack. Here is yesterday:
7:00 am 2 scrambled eggs
9:15 am 2 california wraps
12:30 pm large salad (about 2 c)
2:30 pm celery & PB (two pieces of celery and about 2 T PB)
By the time I got home at 5:00 I was starving. For dinner at 5:30 pm I had 3/4 c Fauxtatoes, 1 c salad and 1 1/2 c spaghetti.
Yesterday was ok but it is the period between my last snack and dinner that is the hardest. Some nights I don't have dinner until 7:00 pm. If I wait to have my snack until 5:00 pm when I get home I am still too hungry.

Aimee,
If your last snack is at 2:30 and dinner is at 7:00 you should be having another snack at 5ish.
Thanks Cathy. I guess I have been sticking to rigidly to the 3 snack 3 meal thing. I will need to have a small snack when I get home. I was worried that would be too close to grazing.
Thanks!

Aimee, are you getting your dairy in?
Aimee, here are the latest tips from Dr. A and the nutritionists.
I have dairy sometimes. I will eat yogurt, had that yesterday, or I will eat sour cream. I don't like milk very much and will only usually drink it in cereal. I eat a lot of cheese. I know the diet doesn't consider that "dairy" but it provides a lot of the vitamins that milk does. From what I have read SBD recommends the milk for the calcium and I get plenty of calcium from cheese, beans and fortified cereal.
In order to provide the proper nutrients for your baby, make sure you're getting enough vitamin A, D, B6, and B12.
My DD will always get the vitamins first and me second so it is really to ensure I provide the proper nutrients for ME because I get whatever is left over.
I get ample amounts of vitamin A from bell pepper, spinach, romaine, eggs, broccoli, & tomato. These I eat daily in my salads and some of them
