Sunny Saturday Phase 2 Check In
| Sat, 04-30-2005 - 11:19am |
Good Saturday Morning!
Are you relaxing at home or going out and about today? I wish I had more time at home but I have my afternoon and evening all planned. I gave the run down to Tricia in the Friday post but bascially I'm going out with my dad to his Berkshire meeting....I'll try to stay awake. LOL! I'm seeing MerceMe in concert tonight. We have 8th row so it should be pretty nice. :-)
I just had (not sure if SB approved?) Amy's Organic Toaster Apple Pops. There are made with wheat and oats and all natural ingredients. I wasn't very impressed so I won't buy them again.
I'm not sure what my menu is at this point today. I'll report back later though.
Have a great weekend!

Hello again, I just wrote you back.
Well today, since it's gorgeous outside. We are going to run down to the park and play. Then we are going to go to the pool, which is inside but that's okay.
Tonight we're eating ribs and salad w/ mom and dad and watching a movie. We may stay the night since dh is in Louisiana for 45 days.
b: egg w/ spinach, feta, peppers
s: lite baby bell
l: not sure because it's almost 11am and I still haven't eaten breakfast yet.
s: lite baby bell or a piece of ham. V8
d: pork spareribs w/ carb options barbecue sauce. Mixed green salad w/ lite ranch
s: not sure
Happy Saturday!!

Hey ladies... how are you all doing for the weekend?
Been busy here. I have 3 sick sickies with Croup.. so its a stressfully long day! or should say week!
breathing treatments around the clock, and cleaning up ickies.. Ugggg... Ready to be sick free for all.
Anyways.. here's my menu.
Hi Everyone!
We've had a busy Saturday. I got my hair cut and highlighted this morning and then we all went to a jazz festival this evening. It's beautiful here so it was nice! But that place was FULL of temptation-- funnel cakes, ice cream (which my entire family, besides me, indulged in), pizza, hot dogs, frozen lemonade... you get the idea. But I just sipped on my Diet Dr. Pepper and tried to concentrate on the great music. I am treating myself to a low-carb beer or two tonight. I know it's really not SB-friendly, but I seriously don't even know the last time I had a beer so I'm doing it.
Here's today's menu:
B: Vegetable frittata, banana "shake"
S: Diet Dr. Pepper
L: Kraft SBD 4 cheese pizza, yogurt
S: Cottage cheese, apple with pb
Diet Dr. Pepper
D: Chicken and vegetable fajitas with black beans, l/f cheese, l/f sour cream, a dab of guacamole and no tortillas.
Maybe a V-8 since it looks like I'm lacking in veggies today.
Dessert: 2 Mich-Ultra beers :-)
Have a great rest of the weekend!!!

Hey Kim - last I heard Dr. A's stance on low-carb beer had loosened a lot, basically I believe it is considered the same rule as wine and other alcohol now - 1-2 glasses. My dh and I have it all the time (he has had one every night, some nights two - he's lost 40lbs in the last 4 months, I have about 3 or 4 a week and I have lost 29lbs in 4 months, so it didn't hurt us any!) Let me see if I can find the chat transcript quote about it...
Member Question: I know red wine is an acceptable alcohol choice in Phase 2, but what about the new low carb beer that is out?
Dr. Agatston: There are several studies that show that alcohol in moderation (one to two drinks per day) helps prevent heart disease and diabetes. These studies do not distinguish between alcoholic beverages. Low calorie beers, in moderation, can be included. Wine is theoretically a better choice than other alcoholic beverages because it does contain antioxidants and other nutrients that appear to be healthy. We also advise drinking with a meal, because alcohol does slow the stomach from emptying and therefore slows digestion and the rise and fall of blood sugar. Alcohol, particularly before a meal and on an empty stomach, appears to stimulate appetites. Beyond two drinks, alcohol is fattening and has other adverse effects.
Admin_John: Could you comment on beer and liquor as well?
Dr. Agatston: While wine has theoretical advantages over beer and other liquors because of its antioxidant properties, actual studies of heart disease prevention have not shown an increased advantage from wine as expected. Moderate consumption of alcohol of any type is acceptable. However, be careful not to include mixers that contain additional calories. A recent study has indicated that juices alone can be responsible for increased weight gain in children.
So it sure sounds just as legal as wine or any other alcohol!
