I gained my first week on Phase II

My official weigh in was this morning. I was at 213.5 last Monday. I was at 217.5 when I started SBD, so I lost 4 pounds in the two weeks of Phase I. I was 213.0 this past Thursday, so I was tracking just fine for a .5 or 1 lb loss. Then this morning I weighed and I was 217. I know I couldn't possibly gain 4 pounds of real weight in 4 days, but I don't know what caused it. Here's what I ate yesterday.
B - omelet w/lf cheese and canadian bacon, 1/2 C. oatmeal
S - 1 Tb PB (yes - right off of the spoon)
L - brocolli cheese soup (I think it was Maggie's recipe)
D - baked chicken, brussel sprouts, coleslaw (splenda, mayo, balsamic vinegar), strawberries
Dessert - SBD layered pumpkin pie (1/8th size piece of the pie)
S - FF SF vanilla pudding with FF whipped cream
I didn't have a whole serving of strawberries, and only the one serving of milk (the pudding), but is that really enough to cause a 3.5 lb gain (based on Thursday's weight)? I really don't do as well with meal planning on the weekends, because I don't have the structure to my day that I have during the week.
Today is the start of week 2 on Phase II, should I really add another grain and fruit, or should I wait? I don't really feel like I need it (not especially hungry at any time). I know you don't want to go back to Phase I, but is it okay to stay on the early stage of Phase II longer, or will that just sabotage my efforts?

Lora, it's okay to continue as you are a little longer.
Thanks, Maggie. I hadn't even noticed that I didn't get 4.5 cups of veggies in yesterday. I have a huge salad every week day for lunch, with whatever kind of legume is offered that day (chick peas, kidney beans, black-eyed peas usually), so it's normally not a problem, especially when you add in the veggies we have with dinner. I think more about not eating the wrong things than I do about eating enough of the right things.
I'm happy to hear this is not an uncommon occurrence. I'll stick with 1 grain for a few days, and go day by day on whether or not I have one or two fruits.
I'm also extremely bloated today, which I imagine is the combination of brussel sprouts and coleslaw for dinner last night.
Thanks again for your help!
Lora
Lora, being bloated is a good clue that maybe this weight is even more temporary than you thought!!!
Hi Lora! I just wanted to tell you that I had a slight gain when I started phase 2 also - and I was told by many that its pretty common/normal. Its the only time I have gained at all since being on SBD (other than a temporary lb of water weight at TOM) I had lost 8lbs in phase 1 - was thrilled, then boom, 1 lbs the first week of phase 2, another lb the second week. It was pretty stressful, I felt like I was doing everything *perfect*, but thanks to everyone here I hung in there, then quickly lost those two lbs the next week - and have gone on to lose another 22lbs since then for a total of almost 30lbs.
I stayed at one grain/one fruit until I started losing again before adding more servings. So just make sure you get those veggies, diary, etc. and I am sure you will start losing again!

Thanks for your message. I'm not usually a support group type of gal, but it is so helpful to me to hear when others have had the same experience. All along, I thought it was too good to be true that I could have bread and fruit and still lose weight (I'd been doing Atkins for 14 months, with good results, but then stalled the last 6 months), so when I gained this first week, I was really bummed, thinking I was right - no fruit for me! But I'm going to stick it out, because even maintaining is better than gaining, and net-net, I'm still down 1/2 a pound.
