I was reading the thread on tortilla servings & it seems I've made the same mistake as that poster in thinking 1 tortilla was 1 starch serving. My tortilla's are the large ones(59g) which technically is 2 servings so I've learned.
So, that lead me to re-examine my other breads & left me somewhat confused. I re-looked at the breads & cereal recommendations & noted it said "Thomas' Sahara 100% Whole Wheat Pitas - large (5g fiber)" which I assume is meant to be a serving but after reading the label it says 1 pita equals 57g. So, is my pita actually 2 starch servings? Or, does the breads & cereal list mean 1 pita is 1 serving & that the pita's are an exception to the rule that 1 starch = 1oz (30 grams)?
Luckily, for me, I've basically stayed with 2 grains/day (or so I thought) so this "extra" serving when I had it really just put me at the 3 servings/day. Big sigh, so much to learn *still* . . .

Even though it lists it like this "Thomas' Sahara 100% Whole Wheat Pitas - large (5g fiber)" its TWO servings since it is almost 60g (I wish the list said that!) Some other things are also two servings, like the English muffins, hamberger buns, large tortillas, etc. In fact a lot of the breads are not just one serving per slice. A lot of the breads (the ones in those wide square loaves usually) are 45g per slice, so 1.5 servings! It takes awhile to get that down - trust me, I spent many frustrating hours in the bread aisle doing math!

I had the same confusion about the serving sizes. I still have trouble figuring some of them out! And trying to explain in to my DH is like talking to a brick wall.....he's always saying but the package says this is how much a serving is.

Doreen, I just searched the SBD website to see if there was a more precise explanation, I'm not sure if this helps (it helped me).
