Today's Question of the Day (feel free to add your own!)
Which pre-SBD food do you miss that you'd like to see a "makeover" for?
Bonus Q: Do you have a "makeover" recipe for someone else's request that you can post in the Recipes section and/or would you be willing to take one on and help someone who's stuck?
This Q was inspired by Maggie's universal-substitution-of-cauliflower post yesterday. As I said, I'd love to see a recipe for New England Clam Chowder with faux-tatoes. That's always been one of my favorite soups, it's an occasional treat now but I would really love to have a recipe that can make it something I can eat regularly again. If I develop my own, I'll post it...and I'll be happy to post any other "makeovers" that will benefit one of you!
Today's menu:
B: Ricotta "pancake" to go
MS: 4 oz yogurt
L: Boca burger with cheese (no bun), baby carrots
AS: Peanuts
D: Not sure yet, possibly the soup from last night
De: I saved just enough ricotta for one more creme (prob. chocolate PB -- made with unsweetened chocolate/Splenda)
Have a good one, everyone!
Shan

Good morning. Can't think of anything for the qod right now. I really like the faux potatoes. someone told me to chop them up really good in a processor before you cook them that way they have even a finer texture when you mash them. I need to come up with more recipes for Quick Cooking. It takes longer to prepare and cook foods that are more wholesome and natural. I like the keep mental notes of the things that are really quick and easy but tastes great.
b: coffee v8
s: mozz stick
l: whole grain lean cuisine
s: mozz stick
d: grilled asparagus w/ pork
s: sf/ff choc pudding
Hugs,
Tricia

Good morning everyone! QOD: Tough one, the pre-SBD foods that I miss the MOST are probably the most impossible to "makeover" Basically I miss everything corn the most (corn tortillas, polenta, grilled corn on the cob, tamales, etc.) Not much you can substitute there! I also miss gnocchis...I have heard of sweet potato ones or ones made w/ricotta...so there may be possibilities there, but I don't really feel like they would be the "same" (gnocchis are my ultimate comfort food and bring lots of memories of helping my grandma make them...so actually its passing down the family tradition of how to make them my grandma's way that I am feeling "deprived" of) I did manage to make a fairly SBD friendly chili relleno on Cinco de Mayo (that was one of dh's childhood favs)
Not much going on here today, more painting, dd has school, ds has a half day at school. Looking forward to going to see Star Wars tomorrow, have our tickets for the first local afternoon showing...pulling ds out of school for the day and dh is taking the day off work. Should be fun (will be smuggling in my own SBD legal popcorn, but probably not limiting myself to 3 cups!)
Today:
breakfast: breakfast burrito (egg, onion, bell pepper, salsa, cheese, turkey bacon on ww tortilla)
snack: soy shake and string cheese
lunch: leftover eggplant lasagna, salad
snack apple with peanut butter
dinner: carnitas, refried beans, some other veggie, not sure yet what
desert: pb yogurt

Hi ladies,
Busy day here - but it's my last day of classes! Still have finals but the semester is finally wrapping up! I couldn't be happier. I've decided to change my weigh-in day to Friday (Tuesday is too close to the end of the weekend!) so hopefully I'll be able to report a loss this Friday!
Here's what I have for today:
B: 1/2 c. oatmeal w/ 3/4c. skim milk, small banana, 1tbsp PB.
S: string cheese
L: turkey cutlet, roasted zucchini, sauteed cabbage w/ turkey bacon.
S: baby spinach w/ goddess dressing
D: Veggie burger w/ spinach in WW tortilla (large). 2 glasses of red wine.
S: 1 c. Plain FF yogurt
That's it! Hope everyone is having a great day!

Hi everyone-
Busy day at work here so I am late in posting.
Hi, guys! I'm still up for this week, but it's TOM. How long after does it take for you to see your weight go back down? Started Sunday night, was up Monday, up more yesterday, and today is the same as yesterday. I'm really bummed, because I've been losing very slowly, which is okay, but then to be up and stalled after only 6 weeks since starting :<
The thing I miss is peanut butter. Yes, I can have PB, and the natural kind is fine with me, but I have a real hard time limiting myself. I'm not overindulging, but it's very hard. Peanut butter is my all-time favorite food - more than chocolate, more than ice cream - I *love* PB.
B - fruit smoothie, crustless quiche with brocolli, peppers, onions, little shredded carrot
S - missed it
L - Wendy's chili and side salad
S - cheese cubes, celery w/peanut butter
D - grilled chicken, roasted brocolli, salad,
S - pudding, toast w/cinnamon & splenda
Have a great day!
