hey guys. why is it that when you only wanna tone up the flab on your body...IT TAKES FOREVER!!!! i cant stand it!! i have my junior ring banquet tomorrow night (our form of junior prom) and i bought a red hot salsa dress (in a size SMALL :) i really hope i get a look of jaw drops from all the people who have never seen me outside of my uniform before. im excited but at the same time, once again, i feel like i overdid it 2day (on yogurt mostly). And is it ok to have a whole pan full of sauteed veggies for dinner? i really only have them at dinner. most days look like this...

breakfast-1/2 cup Fiber one with less than 1/2 cup ff milk

lunch-berries, or coldcut turkey/chicken, or today i had 1/2 cup ff yogurt w/ peanut butter. i have any 1 of these things on a given day

snack(heres where i always binge when i get home from school!)- cup of yogurt, a lot of soy crisps, and coldcut chicken

dinner-sauteed cauliflower, chopped broccoli, and bean sprouts

i always feel like i binge when i get home from school. I NEED TO STOP!!

also a cooking question. does it add calories to my dinner if i use a little lemon juice, or if im boiling my veggies if i have some zest in there with them?? x0x Kerry

Kerry,

Yes, not only is it ok to overdo it on the yogurt, but it is ok to overdo it on the veggies too!

As far as your menu goes, I have a few suggestions. At lunchtime, EAT MORE!! Due to your age and level of activity, you should be eating ALL the items you mentioned, not just "one on any given day." Where is the proten in your dinner? Have a little more milk with your cereal and how about adding a protein and/or a veggie serving? We have talked about omelets before - they are quick, easy and a great way to get protein and veggies into a meal. Or, have you tried Maggie's breakfast burritos? You can make a whole week's worth at a time and just nuke 'em and go!

Regarding the lemon question: first, we do not count calories and second, lemon adds little to no calories to your cooking, neither does the zest ~~ so feel free to juice it up!

You will look great at your banquet ~ I hope you have a wonderful time! My daughter is going to a prom tomorrow night, too!

Hi Kerry,

Even with what you call "binging" on yogurt, you still didn't get in a total of 3 cups of dairy which is recommended on South Beach.

Just a few more thoughts.....

Cathy makes a good point that you need to add some fruit - how about adding it to your yogurt. How about some oatmeal at breakfast with some strawberries?

And, adding some grains to your meals, such as brown rice at dinner, may satisfy you longer.

Hi Kerry,

I agree with the others, you're not eating enough dairy (3 cups per day) or protien.

Hey Kerry,

If you liked the idea Karen gave you about make-ahead breakfast burritos (cook once, eat all week), here is the recipe:

Hey Kerry, that breakfast burrito recipe was in the middle of somebody else's thread, with the detailed instructions even farther in that thread.....so I put it all together in a new post in Recipes, for easy reference:
