Any Suggestions??

I have been on phase two for about 10 weeks. I changed scales along the way, so I am not sure how many lbs I lost, but I am estimating that I am losing about 1.5 lbs a week. My clothing fits so much better and I have lost inches all around. Anyway.. I was just reading other people's sample menu and I realized that although I am pretty sure I am eating healthy and 'right', I have never asked someone to see mine and make suggestions.. So if it is not too much trouble..

Breakfast:two egg cheese omelette (not too much cheese, maybe 1oz), a glass of V8, milk and coffee.

Lunch: salad, lots of greens and I add either tuna, or beans, or slice of ham, etc...

snack: fiber one with a cup of non-fat yogurt,

dinner: some kinds of protein, with veggies (either steamed, or boiled or broiled) and a salad.

snack: slice of whole grain bread and a fruit.

I eat another slice of bread at some point during the day (sometimes).. I don't get more fruits though.. I get cravings with them.. it is probably psychological :(

I would really appreciate your comments and ideas..

Hi Cath,

First of all, congrats on the awesome weight loss - 1.5 pounds per week is amazing!

Your menu looks great and it is obviously working since you seem to be adding some grains and still losing. If the fruits are making you crave, try a different type of fruit. You didn't mention what variety you have added to your diet - berries are the best choice.

Thanks the quick response!!! This board and the cl's rock ;)... I was pretty sure I was doing fine, since I have pretty much been losing steadily.. but an expert opinion never hurts..

about the fruits... I'm fine with strawberries and cantaloupe.. maybe it was the time of the day, or what I ate the fruit with that made me start craving chips...

Again thx

Congrats on your great progress! It looks and sounds like you are doing great. I noticed the "slice of bread and fruit" snack - and was wondering if maybe the fruit was giving you cravings because you didn't have it with a carb competitor? Both the bread and the fruit would be best to eat with a carb competitor to help slow digestion and prevent cravings instead of alone.
Also maybe having the combo of bread and fruit is a little too carb heavy and caused cravings? Maybe if you spread out the grains and fruits instead of having them at the same time it would help! For me personally if I have a grain and a fruit at the same meal/snack I tend to feel hungry much quicker.
But really it all looks great and sounds like its working! Way to go!

Hi Cath,

MichaelAnn is right - add a carb competitor. Here is some information about them:

When re-introducing carbs, you'll want to add a "Carb Competitor" with it.

Thank you all... I'll keep in mind the carb-competitors.. I had read about them, but didn't pay too much attention.. The main reason why I have that snack after dinner is that I don't care if it gives me cravings, because I eat it just before I go to bed.. by the time I wake up everything has 'settled down' ;). I was never much a fruit eater, and I think that may play into this as well.. I love veggies, always have.. as a kid I never understood why my friends didn't enjoy eating spinach, or brussel sprouts, I loved them.. they cried when they were forced to eat them.. anyway.. fruits were never my thing..

Again.. thanks for the advice. I will try to eat at least one more fruit. I am headed for the gym for the first time right now, so I will probably have to readjust my eating habits again in a couple of weeks...
