SO confused!

Ok, so I had put on two pounds as of Monday and I decided to be stricter about Phase II. Here has been my menu this week:

B: crustless quiche, blueberries, soy milk, coffee
L: Cathy's Mexican Eggplant Casserole
S: broccoli w/hummus, peanuts or almonds
D: popcorn (just one serving), spinach salad w/turkey bacon crumbled on top, sf jello

I have also worked out five times this week. I did have Wed. night where I went out to dinner and had pasta w/shrimp and veggies and red wine. But that was my only "slip up" and I did not get any cravings.

I have also been weighing myself less often because the scale was driving me nuts. So today I was so proud of my progress this week and weighed in to find I HAD GAINED ANOTHER TWO POUNDS!!

What happened? I am absolutely devastated. I am almost back to where I started. How did this happen?? I just want to burst into tears.

If I remember correctly, you are very near your goal weight right? It is harder to take off those last few pounds. Looking at your menu, I don't think you are eating enough. It looks like you are getting enough veggies, but you are low on dairy and I'm not sure on protein. You need to keep eating - can you add one more snack in the day - maybe some yogurt? Be sure to drink plenty of water - sometimes upping your water intake can help to break a plateau.

Chin up, and let us know how you're doing!

Hugs,

125 or below is my goal and I was there a couple of weeks ago. After a vacation and a busy social calendar I was up to 125 on Monday. But today I am up to 129. It just makes no sense. I am not cheating and I thought I was going to see the scale back at 125, not UP!

My dairy is always a problem because I'm lactose intolerant. So I just have the soy milk and that is only one serving. My veggies are fine . . . I have them at breafast, lunch, and dinner. Maybe I'm not eating enough but can that really have caused this gain?? That seems crazy to me. I'm definitely not starving myself, but I have been trying not to overdo it on calories.

I'm not giving up, just very frustrated!

Good - don't give up!

I believe that you need to eat enough during the day to keep your metabolism working. It is OK if you are calorie conscious in that beans, cheeses and nuts can be diet busters. But going too long in between snacks/meals slows down your metabolism. Try adding another snack and increasing the water - see what happens.

I just realized I messed up my last message. I was at 125 a few weeks ago and have been there for months. This Monday I was up 127 so I decided I needed to take action. I thought I had done that but today I'm up to 129.

I will not have nuts or much cheese today or this weekend and I'll try adding in another snack and more water.

Thanks for the advice!

Thanks Karen! Hope you got my reply.

Quick update . . . today I was back down to 127. I think the two pound increase must have been a fluke (water retention or something). The benefit to only weighing in once a week is that it keeps me sane, but it can also be deceptive if you weigh in on a bad day! Anyhow, still trying to lose those two pounds to get back to where I was . . . keeping my chin up!
